À LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Elisabeth Laura Coventry
April 14, 1993 – July 11, 2026
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Elisabeth Laura Coventry who left us on July 11, 2026, at the age of 33.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario, on April 14, 1993, Lizzie lived with uncommon energy, deep compassion, and an adventurous spirit that drew both people and animals naturally toward her.
Horses were never simply part of her life. They were part of who she was.
A gifted and accomplished horsewoman, Lizzie built a life doing what she loved. She worked at veterinary clinics and barns throughout the Ottawa and Quebec region, earning the respect and admiration of the equestrian community through her knowledge, skill, and unwavering dedication.
Together with her beloved partner, Yanik Bourdeau, she created a home centered around their hobby farm, where she boarded horses, taught riding and braiding lessons, and generously shared not only her remarkable understanding of horses, but the quiet wisdom she carried through life itself. For many, the barn became far more than a stable. It became a place of encouragement, friendship, laughter, and belonging.
She often smiled and said,
“I live in a house… but my home is the barn.”
Nothing could have been more true.
Lizzie loved the outdoors. Wildflowers made her pause. Anything with four legs and fur found its way into her heart. Horses, donkeys, chickens, dogs, cats… they were never simply animals to her. They were family, each welcomed with the same kindness and devotion she gave so freely to the people in her life.
Authentic in every way, she lit up every room and every barn she entered. She was more comfortable in riding boots than high heels. Our Lizzie never pretended to be anyone other than herself. If she liked you, you knew it. If she disagreed with you, you probably knew that too. She appreciated sincerity and had a little patience for pretence. Honest, forthright, and wonderfully direct, she also had an extraordinary gift for lifting others up. She knew when to challenge, when to encourage, and when a few sincere words of belief could change someone’s day, or even their life.
Her curiosity was boundless. She loved deeply, laughed easily, sang beautifully and gave of herself with tremendous generosity. Those who knew her will remember not only what she taught them about horses, but what she quietly taught them about kindness, courage, confidence, and living authentically.
Lizzie leaves behind her beloved partner, Yanik Bourdeau, her loving parents, Sylvie Auger (Rory MacLeod) and Ashley Coventry (Brigitte Leizerovici), siblings Geoffrey Coventry (Laura Martin) and James Coventry, her Niece/God child Claire Elizabeth Coventry, Mother In-law, Patricia Bourdeau (Ryan), Father In-law, Camille Bourdeau, Brother and Sister In law, Eric and Nadine Bourdeau. Lizzie was also surrounded by close aunts, uncles and cousins and an extended family of supportive friends, students, clients, fellow horse lovers, coworkers and countless others whose lives are richer because she was part of them.
For those who wish to do so, donations in memory of Lizzie to Lupus Canada and the Therapeutic Riding Association (TROtt) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
She was, and always will be, loved unconditionally.
A Celebration of Elisabeth Laura Coventry’s life will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Complex, Orléans, Ontario.

Yet love has a way of remaining present.
Whenever you see a horse, real or imagined, know that Lizzie is near.
Feel her in the warmth of the sun…
Listen for her in the wind moving through the trees.
Hear her in the rustling of leaves.
Find her in the rhythm of falling rain.
She is still with us, in every life she touched, every kindness she shared, every lesson she taught, and every heart that carries her forward.
Forever loved.
Forever remembered.
Forever near.…

14 avril 1993 – 11 juillet 2026

May God have mercy on Elizabeth’s soul and grant her peaceful rest.
May her persence be felt forever for those she cherished and those who cherished her.
May God grant strength and patience to all her loved ones as they endure this indescribably difficult challenge.
May she remain in our prayers.
So so sorry for such a sudden loss, Met Elisabeth and Yanik at my daughter’s weddin’ Haleigh Elise Marie Wilcox. Down to earth great couple. I still remember joking with Liz how she wished Yan would be more social and mingle . I knew then they were good people . Cam
Liz and our daughter, Allison, shared a close friendship over the years, starting when they were both horse-mad young teens who spent most of their free time at the same barn. From driving the girls back and forth to the barn, horse shows, movies and other places, and often sticking around with them until the return trip, we had the pleasure of getting to know Liz quite well. At what can be a socially awkward age for some, she readily engaged in interesting and lively conversation, and overflowed with enthusiasm, passion and ideas, especially about the world of horses and her place in it. As the girls grew up and our driving services were no longer needed, we would still see Liz from time to time, and were always impressed by the woman she became—energetic, knowledgeable, caring, hardworking and independent. We are deeply saddened by the loss of a shining light who brightened the world around her.

I’m at a loss this news completely knocked the wind out of me. When wee Georgie found herself pregnant Liz was the only one I trusted with her care. She was my go to horsey friend. All the knowledge. So much class and professionalism. I was just sending her Georgie and Fergie updates from NB. We miss you. I’m so sorry to her family, Yanik, everyone who loved her, I hope she’s up there with our sweet George and Carmen.

Sylvie & Rory there are no words that can express how deeply sorry we are for the loss of your beautiful daughter. May you find strength in the love that surrounds you and comfort in the precious memories you shared as a family.
Sending you love and deepest sympathy..
My heart goes out to Liz’s family, friends, and everyone in the horse community who knew and loved her. While we weren’t close, Liz sold me my horse, Tally, many years ago, and I’ll never forget that. Tally carried me through some incredibly difficult years as a teenager, and I’ll always be grateful to Liz for giving me that piece of my life.
Rest easy, Liz. Say hi to Tally for me.
I didn’t have the privilege of knowing Liz for very long, but the person I came to know was full of charisma, with a smile that lit up the room. She loved coming to the spa to have her nails done, and she was always so friendly, warm, and welcoming.
Leaving us at such a young age is truly heartbreaking. Another beautiful angel has gone to heaven, but your light and kindness will never be forgotten.
You will be forever missed.
With love,
Mimi & Phil
I heard, today, of a young woman who passed a few days ago and although I had only met her a handful of times, she was instrumental in my early days of wrestling grief of the loss of my partner of 24 years.
She has a horse boarding farm near where Ginette and I lived and I heard of her through my niece , Sarahh, who’s horse , Marshall, was a resident. When Ginette passed, Sarahh would urge me to go to the horses and although i didn’t understand at the time – but to get out of myself – I reluctantly agreed.
It didn’t take long to realize the spiritual strength of these quiet heroes and I found myself drawn to these enormously patient creatures, that although huge, possess such grace and understanding of the human spirit.
Elizabeth was gracious and generous to share her charges with me and I suspect with many others…and would leave the gate unlocked for me when I needed to be around her four- legged angels. I found comfort and solace – and the much needed occasional smile, when they would gently nudge me, when feeding them carrots if they thought I was too slow handing them out. Just 2 weeks ago, I was regaling that story to the woman who runs a refuge for horses that I support and how she welcomed me in my time of need.
Elizabeth, I never thanked you for this , your kindness and generosity. And I wish that you could have found the peace you desperately needed as I did.
May you ride free now – unencumbered of your pain – on your beloved animals. And rest assure, that I, amongst many many others will be thinking of you and your beautiful spirit , when we chance upon one of these magnificent creatures.
I will tell my horses – Merlin, Lily and Federal at the shelter about you and your incredible kindness.
A much belated and extremely saddened ,
Thank you,
from the bottom of my heart.
My deepest sympathies to Yanik
and all those who loved her…
So sorry to hear about Elizabeth. I remember how proudly Ashley spoke of his Lizzie. I hope you can fill the gaping hole this leaves in your hearts with the love and memories you share.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Rest in peace Lizzie. We will always have good memories of seeing you running around the gymnasium and having a good time during the basketball season. Sincères condolences to the whole family. Dany & Brigitte
Ashley, no words can express our sympathies during this time. From reading her bio it showed the amazing character and personality that you instilled and nurtured in her life. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Sylvie, Ash, Geoff and James,
We were so saddened to here of Lizzie’s sudden passing. Such a devastating loss…. I have so many wonderful memories of her mostly animal related. I’m the one to blame/credit with her love of horses. We had some fun times riding together at Ironwood, her on Pepper and me on Sierra. I’m so glad that I got out to see Lizzie, her horses and the farm a few years ago. She had become a great horsewoman and I enjoyed following her adventures on Facebook. I found this photo from 2002 of Lizzie visiting my first litter of puppies.
Love Gail

Ashley,
May the memories you have of Elisabeth bring you peace. I wish you and your family comfort.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I knew Liz from a horse farm in Cheney, many years ago. I met her there and she rode my horse a few times. We chatted a lot at that farm and rode togather when we could. She was just a teen back then. Myself and my husband drove her home to Orleans once or twice. She was awesome. We kept in touch a little over the years. Facebook helped that. Life moved on, I’m older than her and I had a son, same birthday as Liz !! I am glad I got the chance to meet her. She was Wonderful. I was devastated to hear all this. I wish I could have attended her celebration of life.
May she rest in peace. God bless her and all. Our deepest condolences to all family and friends.🙏
I was a student at LBP when Mr. Coventry was there, and I remember his adorable children in the fashion show. I did not know Elisabeth besides this small connection, but from these tributes, I can see what a lovely, wonderful person she was. My heart breaks for your family at this difficult time. Peace and love to you all.
