Dear Bedard Family

Kim Carbonetto & family

I have nothing but fond memories of my cousin YVAN who baby-sitted me (and my brother) on a few occasions. I remember well seeing Yvan walking his fiancé Colette to work -he in his airforce uniform and she in her nurse caped-uniform : such a beautiful loving couple: there was an aura of light around them….
Yvan and I kept in touch trough occasional (at leas yearly) phone calls: t’was ALWAYS so pleasant to exchange views and family news. II always admired stoic, benevolent, dependable, cheerful Yvan. Yvan lives through my memories and through his descendants.
Cousin André, cousin Jean-François, cousin George; I offer you my sincere condolences and wish the best to you and all your loved ones as we go forward.
A one-minute thought for Yvan with a one-minute silence on this Remembrance Day… as I write…
Yvan était un GRAND cousin si généreux, aimable et inspirant ET je l’admirais tant. Yvan m’est un être exemplaire: merci mon cousin YVAN.

Joe was a great friend and colleague. I sadly lost track of him when I left Telesat to work in Hong Kong.
Joe ran our satellite control maintence and our computer operations for decades. His management skills were exemplary.
I always valued his advice and guidance.
I am sorry for your loss.
I am currently in Hong Kong and will sadly miss his celebration of life. Rest assured I will lift a Parting Glass on the day though.

I don’t have many memories of your Dad, Lyse, but I remember listening to Neil Diamond on his cool reel-to-reel player at your house in Queenswood Heights back in the early 70s. “Sweet Caroline” will always remind me of him and that time. My sincere condolences to you and the family.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Bédard.

Dear Bedard Family,
My sincere and heart-felt sympathies to all of you. Joe and I knew each other since he joined Telesat in early 1970. Joe brought with him a wealth of know-how and experience. We became close friends. He quickly became a kingpin in our Satellite Control Division. He knew how to build the Satellite Control Centre, both the physical part and consoles that you see and the invisible electronic infrastructure. There was a great deal to it. Joe had superior self confidence and nothing fazed him. What he didn’t know, he self taught. He was unflappable. He also did our budget! These were the large identifiable projects but Joe was responsible for filling in the gaps in all our needs. On the leisurely side Joe took me out cross-country skiing for my first time. He had a great sense of humour and had his expressions such as « After 60 the warranty is over », or « That’s the way the old mop flops ». Joe will be greatly missed and remembered.
