It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Fatima Silva, who left this world on January 17, 2026, at the age of 81. A devoted daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Fatima was the heart of her family and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Nuno da Gloria Silva. Fatima will be lovingly remembered by her children: Nuno, Sandra (Georges) and Ina; and her cherished grandchildren: Salina (David), Joshua, Kanixa (Seraj), and Xavier; and her adored great-grandchildren: Eilha, Nash, Emerson, Islo and Lily. She also leaves behind many relatives and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Fatima was born in Portugal in the Azores, on the island of São Jorge, then later immigrated to Canada in search of a better life for her family. A devoted homemaker, she had a remarkable gift for caring for others and welcoming everyone with warmth, comfort, and an open heart. Fatima found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cooking for those she loved, tending to her garden, knitting with care, and watching her beloved novelas.
Together, Fatima and Nuno built their dream home on the island of Pico in the Azores, a place filled with love, memories, and laughter. They returned there often, and the home remains a lasting symbol of their shared dreams—a place the family will continue to gather and treasure for generations to come.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 16th, at Paróquia Senhor Santo Cristo Parish, 1100 Kenaston St, Ottawa, ON, K1B 3P5. Following the Mass, we invite you to join us in the banquet hall for light snacks and hot/cold beverages to gather and honor the life and memory of Fatima Silva

Your mom was an incredible woman. Her generosite, warmth and heart lives on through you and your family and through everyone whos life she touched.
My memories that I have of mama Fatima are when I first meet her. She embrace me with a big smile and hug and started to talk to me in Portuguese 😊so sweet and kind and everytime I would see her that smile I will always remember it 💖 💕 I will forever be greatful to her for taking care of my son Adam when I went back to work after my maternity leave. She would make soup for him and other special foods gor his lunch and snacks. She would also sing Portuguese songs to him and Adam would enjoy them and laughed and he would always wnat more. Thank you mama Fatima for caring for my son with so much love, patience and kindness. It meant the world to my husband Moe and I during that time of need.🙏💞😘
Your mom Ina, Sandra, Nuno, grandchildren and great grandchildren, was a blessing in our life’s.
I pray that God holds your mom in his eternal embrace and gives you and the family strength, hope and peace and know that now she is with her beloved husband ❤️🙏
