À LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Andrew Kaleta

Andy Kaleta passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 17, 2025, at the age of 65. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Danielle, after 43 years of marriage, and his daughters, Michelle and Stéphanie Kaleta, who he loved fiercely.

Predeceased by his father, Mike Kaleta (Haline) and his mother, Helena Kaleta, Andy will be greatly missed by his brother, Steve Kaleta. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Raymond Bédard (Carole), and sisters-in-law, Nicole Bédard and Lyse Bédard. Andy was a proud uncle to Matthew and Adam Kaleta, Celine DesLauriers, Kim DesLauriers (mother to Leo), Kathryne Barron, Sara Barron (mother to Brynlee), and Zakary Bédard.

Andy found great joy in the company of his beloved dog, Mike, who misses him dearly.

Andy was his family’s biggest cheerleader in all their endeavors. He was a kind, loving, and funny man with a serious artistic side. An audiophile, he loved discovering new modern and indie rock bands to add to his extensive playlists and was always up for a concert.

Andy had a wide range of interests, including cycling, and endless projects at the Kaleta Cabin. He enjoyed playing a no-holds-barred game of Sorry with his girls. In recent years, his hobbies included creating art, guitar playing, collecting First Edition Stephen King books, and working on a miniature model of Barry’s Bay.

Andy dedicated 30 years of his professional life to the National Capital Commission, where his commitment and passion for his work left a lasting impact.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Navan Curling Club (1305 Fairgreen Ave, Navan, Ontario), on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Andy’s name can be made to Friends of Algonquin Park.

Condoléances

Andy was a kind gentle soul with an intelligent sense of humour. He fought hard to have as much time as possible with Danielle, Michelle & Stephanie. His connection with his dog Mike was a beautiful thing to see. Steve worshipped Andy. I saw true love in the relationship that Andy & Danielle shared, particularly in the tough times. You will be missed. Love to you all. Jody

My deepest sympathy to you, Danielle, to your children, and to all of your loved ones for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Céline

Our dear Andrzej. I am crushed. Memories of Barry’s Bay, walking into the kitchen in the middle of the night at Gateway Blvd. apartment to see you and Steve relishing the pierogie and golabki leftover after holiday festivities, you taking care of me at Rush concerts, travelling Via Rail from U of Guelph to see you – always arriving after 11 pm!, and the unconditional deep affection for family connection – soulful and deeply personal. I love you. I miss you and forever wished that we lived closer to one another.

Andy was a very sweet soul. Our deepest condolences to you Danielle, Stephanie and Michelle, and may you find strength and joy in the memories you shared. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Marie and Tony

Dear Family,

Please accept my deepest condolences. So very sorry to hear this sad news. I remember Andy from our National Capital Commission days. We shared many laughs. Such a lovely and kind person with the most beautiful smile. . Holding you in my thoughts,, heart and prayers.

Danielle, Terry & I send our deepest sympathies to you & your daughters. We are so glad that we got to see you recently and share all those memories and stories ❤️

Dear Danielle and Family,
We have been longtime friends since high school. We have shared laughter, tears, and adventures over the years.
I had the pleasure of meeting Andy for the first time during my visit while you were both at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay, ON. Two young students that fell in love, graduated, married and raised two beautiful girls together! A truly wonderful and devoted couple.
Words can never express my sorrow. While we all share your grief at this difficult time, I am comforted that Andy is no longer suffering and in pain. He fought his battle long and hard and he will forever remain in the thoughts and hearts of many. Rest in peace dear Andy.
Kim Carbonett0 and family

Time has passed, the Wheel has turned.
It is time for you Andy to move on.
You will walk hand in hand with the Lord and Lady
and with your ancestors who came before you.

Great Mother, welcome Andy
back into your womb.

And Great Father welcome him back into your divine instruction.

Let him come to you and
know that he has been blessed
by your gracious gift of Life.

Let him come into your Divine Love, and let him know
that he has left behind a life of legacy, that he shall be remembered and loved.

As he enters your world,
wrap him in your loving arms,
and welcome him back home.

Let him speak to the Ancient Ones
to learn the greater mysteries
that lie beyond the veil.

Give him the strength to take these final steps, and allow him to do so with peace and dignity.

Those of us left behind
shall indeed mourn his death,
but we shall also know
that his Soul and Spirit
is coming back to Holy Mother and Holy Father, and that he shall be made whole again.

We shall cry, but we shall also laugh,
for we shall celebrate the Life
that had been given to Andy

And let him also know
that as we now merry part,
that we shall also merry meet again.

And we now, with these candles,
respect the flame of Andy’s life,
and though these candle flames shall die out,
we know that Andy shall live on,
and his flame shall never cease to burn,
and we also know that he shall be reborn anew.

Take him by the hand and
guide him back into your heart,
for this is what is right and just.

Let him walk unerringly
down the path that leads to your Love.

This is our will and so mote it be. Blessed be.

Danielle, Michelle and Stephanie my deepest sympathies go out to you as you say good bye to Andy. Although I remember him in later years my first memory of him as an almost dad eager to learn about the upcoming birth of his first baby stands out. He became exactly the caring, loving dad he showed the promise of as an expectant parent. Please know I’m thinking of you and wishing you peace and comfort.

My respect and sympathy to the family of Mr. Andrew Kaleta.
I never had the honour of meeting Andrew, he of course was a wonderful man. I am a friend of Mr. Steve Kaleta. From knowing Steve i can see that Andrew was a very special person and i hope that everyone that was close to Andrew can find some kind of peace and beauty of such a beautiful soul Andrew was and gave to those around him.
Thank you for letting me share in this time.

So devastated & broken hearted we feel as we send out our heartfelt love and sorrow to Danielle, Michelle, Stephanie & Steve & families.

I became friends with Andy in Public School which carried through high-school and afterwards. Together a certain group of friends (dudes) bonded spending lunches together in the parking lot ,& local hangouts like Chicken Burger, Subs,Plaza Pizza kind of like The Breakfast Club movie for those who can remember.
In our guys only group, together, we plotted & carried out many hilarious pranks & dares on each other, sneaking into bars underage, racing cars, chaos with teachers, nothing illegal but sworn to secrecy as (the guy’s oath) lol. Andy had awesome ideas.
Many memories that still to this day I burst out laughing of the way we were,
I have great memories of playing hockey & school football together.
Julie & I finally met this soul-mate, love of his life Danielle. So happy he drove every weekend from Scarborough to Ottawa or Danielle took the neverending bus ride to visit him. Andy was never happier in his life then when he met Danielle and becoming a family man of course with the birth of his beautiful daughters Michelle & Stephanie.
We remained friends, had trips to the cottage, concerts, Ottawa family camp with Danielle’s family, Tweed,CNE & every memory was filled with so much fun & non-stop laughter. Andy was also Best Man at our wedding. Andy lived with Julie & I in our house after we married for a year or so as he attended Seneca College & with Danielle coming every weekend we held parties an it was such a fun exciting time of life as only found in youth with endless possibilities bringing its own special magic. I was also in their wedding of which we both carry precious memories of. Fewer visits to Ottawa & them to us as sadly time got between us in life with distance & kids and with chaos unexpectedly life does bring. But never ever forgotten with hopes & plans that retirement we could pick up again. However Julie & I will forever hold a piece of our heart that for all time will carry our precious memories of our beloved friend Andy. Danielle, Julie & I are truly feeling something blue. Danielle you, Julie and I will toast with Porch Climbers to you & Andy’s beautiful love story with gratitude how he blessed all our lives. Much Love- Wally & Julie Kuczuk

I worked at the NCC for 17 years while Andy was there. I can assure you Andy was well liked by all his colleagues. You always got an honest answer from Andy and he was a true friend to many. I have very fond memories of Andy and I did give him a few rides home since I lived a short drive away from Andy in Fallingbrook at the time.

Danielle and family and friends of Andy, my deepest condolences to you all during this difficult time. I am Natalie the former cashier at Beausejour Clinic Pharmacy and it was truly a pleasure serving you both.

My sincere condolences to the family. I keep nice memories of Andy while we worked together. He was such a nice, kind and helpful person appreciated by his colleagues.

Dear Danielle, Michelle, Stephanie and Families,
On behalf of my wife Connie and me, I wish to express our deepest sympathy to you, Danielle and your families.
I never met Andy; however, reading about him in his Obituary and from the many comments from his friends I
quickly got the impression that Andy was a special kind of person of high standards and one that dearly loved his many friends and members of his family. At 65, he was just a young guy. As you know Danielle, after meeting you as a child, I rarely saw you. I am a friend of your Dad and we had many experiences and laughs in our careers at Telesat. With great sadness I wish to express our deepest condolences and we reach out to you in your time of sorrow.
Love
Harry and Connie

Bon courage. En toute amitié,

Hélène et Roger Séguin

Andy was such a great NCC ambassador and a cherished colleague for so many NCC-ers over so many years. Just a super guy, always positive and in good humour. My sincere sympathies to his family and friends.

Dear Danielle and family, please accept our deepest sympathy for your tragic loss.
Having only met and spent only a few times together with you and Andy, it was the sparkle in his eyes that you knew what a wonderful sole lied within.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
His spirit will be with you always.
Glen & Heidi

Fear Danielle, Michelle and Stephanie,

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss!
The heartfelt tributes given by Andy’s loved ones on Saturday were a true testament to the kind of man he was…a man who loved deeply and was loved just as deeply!

I can’t begin to imagine the pain you are all going through.
I’m here for you, whatever you need, whether it’s a shoulder to cry on or just a listening ear. Please know you’re not alone.
My heart goes out to you and all of Andy’s loved ones during this difficult time. Know that you’re in my thoughts and prayers!

I first met Andy when I joined the NCC in the late 80s: he was a term employee working on the NCC tree inventory and joined my project . Very soon I made one of my best decisions while at the NCC: I hired Andy as a permanent employee. Andy was dedicated to his work , diligent in achieving results and always helpful in suggestions for improvement . Andy was a real team player, had a great personality, great sense of humor, ways positive and readily assisted others. He was well liked by everyone that he interacted with. Andy positively influenced the NCC through his actions.
We both lived in Orleans and usually bicycled to and from work and often travelled home together. I enjoyed the chats while biking. Andy talked endlessly about his family, his wife Danielle and his two daughters and the adventures they shared together. Andy also went on about the beloved Kaleta cottage & the building of a new structure.
Unfortunately I did not hear about Andy’s passing until the day after his “Celebration of Life“: I would have been privileged to be there.
My deepest condolences to Danielle, Stephanie and Michelle, and may you all find strength and joy in the memories you all shared.
We have lost a great person !
