À LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Natalia Moldoveanu
Our dear friend, Natalia, known formally to many as Dr. Moldoveanu, passed away suddenly on November 30th at age of 98.
A woman of remarkable intellect, Natalia earned her PhD in Chemistry and dedicated many years to meaningful research in Romania. and later at the University of Ottawa. Her work, her curiosity, and her commitment to learning were core parts of who she was. She loved flowers, long walks, and bathing in the sun during the warm summer months.
She was predeceased by all her brothers and sisters, including her most beloved sister, Domnita Georgescu-Moldoveanu. She will be missed by her beloved nephew Serban Moldoveanu (his sons Andrei and Bogdan), and their mother, Zina Moldoveanu, a valued friend to Natalia, and their families. Also missing her are beloved nephews Mihai-Petronius Georgescu and Mihai-Ion Georgescu and their families.
In addition to her family, missing her deeply are her very dear friends she’d made in Ottawa. Florina Gheorge, her daughter, Ruxandra, who Natalia was a nanny to, Paul Colto, Kristine Barclay, Mirela Barclay and Jeff Barclay, Liliana Hoton, Stefan Mihai and Laurentiu Ciobotaru, Anca Dumitrescu Jelea and John Garcia, Daniela Covaci and daughter Diana, along with many other friends that will be missing her.
Last, but not least, all the friends she’d made in the retirement homes she’d lived in, Rideau Place, Portobello Manor, and New Edinburgh Square. Natalia was known for her quick wit and, at times, a sharp tongue when she felt right about something, qualities that reflected her honesty and passion. Beneath that, she was a deeply sensitive and caring person who valued genuine connection. She will be deeply missed.
