À LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Francine Poapst

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Francine Poapst (née Boudreault) on Monday, December 1st, 2025. Francine was a loving, caring, and deeply devoted wife of nearly 50 years to her late husband, Jean-Pierre (Dino) Poapst.

She took immense joy in raising her children and was a steadfast, supportive, and attentive mother to Heidi (Greg Walton) and Érik (Sheilagh Dalziel). She was a very proud and joyful Grand-Maman to Aiden, Jérémy, and Isaac Walton, and to Théodore and Oliver Poapst.

She is predeceased by her parents, J. Fernand Boudreault and Alice Proulx, her sister, Jocelyne Dupont and her brother-in-law Robert Poapst. She will be deeply missed by her sisters Pierrette Pinna, Madeleine Hill, Karmen Boudreault, and by her brother Jean-François Boudreault. She is also fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Carole Boudreault, Anne-Marie Lalonde, and Francine N. Poapst, and by her brothers-in-law Brian Poapst, Roger Lalonde, Jean Dupont, and Patrick Murphy. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished neighbours will remember her with love.

Francine had a long career in Human Resources in the Federal Government and was known for her kindness, empathy, and dedication. She treasured her time at her cottage in Ferguson’s Falls, where she enjoyed the company of her family and friends, creating memories she held close to her heart. A woman of deep faith, Francine lived her Catholic values through generosity and compassion. She supported numerous charities and believed strongly in showing kindness to others.

We will miss her warm hugs, her words of wisdom, her strong will, and her unwavering affection.

A Funeral mass will be held on Monday December 15, 2025. The family will receive condolences beginning at 10am. Mass will be at 11am, followed by a reception at Sainte-Marie Catholic Church, 4831 Innes Road, Orléans.

In memory of Francine, donations to World Vision Canada or Save the Children would be greatly appreciated.

Condoléances

Rest In Peace Francine, now pain free and back in Dino’s embrace. You did a wonderful job raising your children. I will remember you fondly.
❤️❤️

My dear thanks and heartfelt gratitude to my « Auntie Francine » / Aunt Fran and thoughtful Godmother who I remember singing me to sleep and cuddled me motherly-like when I was younger than 5 in Alberta; who imprinted Indigenous values upon me and respect for the keepers of land, water, sky and Earth since I was 7 up at Ferguson’s Falls in Nature; offered a lifeline of escape over the phone when I was 18 in Toronto; kickstarted my career in the public service through NRC at 21; and so much more …and as recent, sending fun cards and gifts and loving texts. The funny way you ate chocolates, your endearing ridiculous orders (I still impersonate) telling me and Uncle Jean the party was *not* in the kitchen that made us laugh so hard … the practical jokes gift at Christmas and the Easter Peeps … your hair bandanas and jean shorts in the 80s to your perfect hands, facial expressions, and strong opinions – you’re remembered in so many ways, and alongside Uncle Dino all the way. Sending love to dear Heidi and Erik xx for enduring two losses so close together, but take comfort that your folks live through you, your generosity, and all our shared memories. You are held. And my condolences to my aunts and uncles who lose someone who’s been a fixture and force in their circle since their teens. Rest well, m’tante — xx

I will so miss my cottage sister and dear cottage neighbour of over 40 years. Both Rebecca and I have such fond memories of our times together. You are now with the love of your life, Dino.
Sincerest condolences to the family.
