À LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Brent Sills

Following an incredible adventure of 50 years, it is with profound sadness we share that our Brent passed away on September 3, 2025, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.

Brent will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend, Stefany (Kawka); his son, Monty (Sills); his parents Susan and Gary (McDonald), his brother Keith (Sills), his sisters Tamara and Jodi (McDonald); his brother-in-law, Nick (Kawka)/Miranda (Killam); and his nephews, Drake and Kaden (Martin) and Tommy (Combe). Brent’s absence will be truly felt by his cousin Tori (Anderson), his godchildren, nieces Evelyn and Vivian, and nephew John, as well as little pup, Panda.

His love for his son, and his three godchildren knew no bounds.

Throughout his lifetime, Brent held many skills and talents. An entrepreneur to the core, his achievements include being an auto dealer, sales lead, real estate investor, stand-up comedian, as well as a business and property developer. Most notably, he was a restaurateur from 2009-2016, where he pioneered the shaping of the early food scene in Hespeler, ON. With his master carpenter skills, design knowledge and passion for hospitality, Brent was a natural to create dining venues and experiences that connected the community on a whole new level.

Brent was also actively involved in the community as a member of the Hespeler Business Improvement Association, the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievers and The Galt Country Club.

He was an infectious storyteller, engaging longtime friends and people he just met with his quick wit and strong sense of humour, his innovative ideas, and his comedic prose. He was a notorious card player and could take over any dance floor. You could always find him wearing his cowboy hat and sunglasses with his beaming smile. Brent loved to travel, host social events, and was the ultimate car enthusiast. He loved 30A and the dear friends there that he held so close to this heart.

He was a mentor and a guide with his fearless lens that he held everyday. Brent lived for the why, and not the how. He was a steadfast believer in those that dared to dream and strive for more. He challenged us to be brave and be bold. Despite his illness, Brent made every day count, and he lived his final years as a true champion.

Thank you to the Orleans Palliative Care Team and the Orleans Integrative Pharmacy for all their care and compassion.

As Brent deeply believed in the importance of teaching youth about financial literacy, work skills and entrepreneurship, please consider making a donation in his honour to Junior Achievement Canada, where he was a proud volunteer. A celebration of Brent’s life will be held in Cambridge, ON, in the fall. Details will be shared at a later date.

Brent, you will be deeply missed. You have imprinted on us all forever.

Condoléances

Our deepest condolences to Stefany, Monty and family. You have lost a great man who impacted so many and will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to you all.

I will miss you buddy. Our good times were to numerous to count. Your absence will be felt for the rest of my life. Rest in peace. I will see you again.

His smile lit up the room and when he was around, you knew your spirit was going to be lifted up.

Every-time I made a change in my life, Brent was someone I would call. Regardless of how long we haven’t talked for – I knew I could call him to talk about some decisions. It always turned into laughs, motivation and direction.

I will always keep my copy of Think and Grow rich by me and think of Brent. It wasn’t about the money but turning purpose and passion into action.

I remember Brent telling me he wanted to be a comedian one day. I wasn’t sure what to think, because
I tried it for a bit and being a stand up isn’t easy. He stuck with it though and did it anyways. I
remember watching one of his sets online and I thought « this guy is living his dream. »

Brent did what he wanted and I admired that about him. Whenever I think of him,
I’ll always have a smile on my face. Not just because of the comedy, but because he was a lovely guy who cared
about others.

I send my deepest condolences to Stefany, Monty and their families. May Brent rest in peace.

Stefany, Monty, Susan, Gary and family.

Jim and I share our deepest condolences with you over the loss of our Brent. We very much loved and cherished all our times with him. He will always be in our hearts. May the road ahead for you hold all those amazing memories of your own special times he spent with each of you. Much love xx.
