In Memory of M. Diann Young
It is with deep sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Diann Young (née Wood) of Orleans, ON on August 30th, 2025, at the age of 81 years, after a 3-month battle with cancer.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 58 years, Trent; her children Kristy (Bill McDougall) and Cory (Tracey); her adored grandchildren Kyla, Dylan & Zachary; her sister-in-law Gail Wood, her brother-in-law Clark Snyder as well as many relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her sister Melba Snyder, her brother Dave Wood, her parents Arthur & Rachel Wood, her mother-in-law Beatrice Young and her baby girl Jamie Dawn.
Diann was born & raised in Melita, Manitoba where she had many amazing memories of the family farm and small-town life. She became a nurse and she and Trent spent time in Alberta before moving to Ottawa in 1972. Diann worked for many years at Montfort Hospital. She loved spending time at her beautiful cottage in PEI and she loved her puppies. She was known for her humour, the way she formed and kept friendships for many years, the way she cared for and about people and the way she loved. She loved her family deeply and would do anything for them but truly just enjoyed spending time together.
A private service will be held at the family’s request. A Celebration of Life will be held in October 2025.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in the name of M. Diann Young to Hospice Care Ottawa – www.hospicecareottawa.ca/donate (Maycourt location or greatest need) or the Montfort Hospital Foundation at https://imakeanonlinedonation.org/fondationmontfort/DIM/
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you and appreciation to the staff at the Maycourt Hospice for their kindness, care and compassion during the short time Diann rested there.
We have such fond memories of Diann from the early days in Ottawa 40 some odd years ago to their more relaxing visits more recently while in PEI. Who could ever for get that hearty Melita farm girl’s laugh which was always followed by a swig of a bottle of beer which was never far away.. A great mother, friend and neighbour. RIP Diann
To Trent, Kristy, Cory & family: So sorry Diann has passed. Thinking of you at this most difficult time, treasure all your good memories, keep them close to your heart. R.I.P. Diann.
