Simone leaves behind in sadness her son Gordon McAllister (Christine) and grandchildren Kenneth and Meghan (Mike). In addition, she leaves behind her step children David, Denise, Alex, Donna (Graham) and step-grandchildren Christopher, Jessica, Anna, Tristan, and Connor. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Diane and brother Émile, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald Millar, stepson Daniel, her parents Alexandre and Germaine Mayer, her brothers Michel, Jean-Paul, Hervé, Henri, Yvon, Richard.
Born on March 22, 1936 in Ottawa, Ontario, Simone lived a full life and was happy to have reached her 90th Birthday this past March. In her life, she lived in Ottawa (ON), Edmonton (AB), Oromocto (NB), Brunssum (Netherlands), and Athens (ON). She was a person who touched the lives of all who knew her, always with a warm smile, generosity, caring and joyful spirit. Simone started work at a very young age starting with the Metropolitan Store (Rideau St), Dominion Stores (Byward Market), Dominion Stores (opening of St. Laurent Shopping Centre in 1967), Beaver Lumber (Startop Rd) and finally Home Hardware (Brockville). She loved to bake and would often make cookies for family and friends or routinely provide banana bread to her colleagues at Home Hardware in Brockville. Her presence will be greatly missed but her spirit and love will live in the hearts of all who knew her.
We would like to thank the Beauclaire Extendicare for the care and compassion they provided and making her comfortable in her final months.
As per Simone’s request there will be no memorial services. In the future, her cremated remains will be buried at Glen Elbe Cemetery in Athens, Ontario. There will be a private burial ceremony for immediate family and close friends.
