In Memory of Ruby Mona Richardson (née Pinkham)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruby Mona Richardson (née Pinkham), who passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born on January 20, 1936, in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Ruby was the daughter of William and Elsie Pinkham. She was predeceased by her parents, her twin brothers Edsel (Margarite) and Cyril (Betty), her daughter Donna May Duncan (John), and her son Ronald William Richardson.
She will be forever loved and missed by her husband of 64 years, Austin Kaye Richardson, her daughter Paula Marie Moyer (Rob), and her son Robert Kevin Richardson (Leanne).
Cherished grandmother to Nathan Moyer (Amy), Kenny Moyer (Aliah), Emily Moyer, Ryan Richardson, Austin Richardson, Rebekah Richardson (Alex), and Corey Richardson. She was also blessed with six precious great-grandchildren, who brought her so much joy.
Ruby’s working years began at Moirs Chocolate Factory in Halifax — which suited her just fine considering her well-known love of chocolate! Later, she went on to study as a Nursing Assistant at the DVA Hospital in Halifax and worked for many years in the prenatal unit and in hospitals caring for children. She finished her career working with special needs children at CHEO (Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario), a role that suited her compassionate heart and caring spirit.
Her faith was always important to her, and wherever life and Austin’s work took them, Ruby found her place serving in the local church community.
Ruby was creative and talented — she loved music and enjoyed playing hymns on her organ at home. She was also a gifted artist and would often create full murals on the windows of their home during the holidays — a tradition her family always looked forward to.
For those who knew Ruby well, they will remember her quick wit and sense of humour. She loved to laugh, tease, and have fun — and she kept that playful spirit and love of music right up until the very end.
She was a woman of strength, joy, and deep love for her family. We were blessed to call her ours.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”
Proverbs 31:25
Forever loved. Deeply missed. Never forgotten.
