In Memory of Robert Morin
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Morin of Ottawa, Ontario, on Saturday August 9th, 2025, at the age of 60.
Beloved husband of Gianna Marinelli. Cherished father of Mathieu (Danica) and Benoit. Loving son of Bernard and Aline Morin, and devoted brother to Monique (Alfonso) and Louise (Rob). Robert will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends, all of whom were touched by his warmth and generosity.
Born in Ottawa, Robert enjoyed a rewarding career of 35 years with the federal government, working in the computer science field with Industry Canada.
Beyond his professional life, he was a man of many passions—an avid fisherman, a dedicated weather enthusiast, and a lover of travel, dancing, card games, and sports. He played hockey and baseball, cheered for his favourite hockey and football teams, and enjoyed countless days cottaging and camping.
Robert had a remarkable gift for bringing people together. He was the family reunion organizer, the constant and loving presence for his parents, and the rock for his two sons. His volunteer work with the Canadian Liver Foundation reflected his generous heart—raising awareness, fundraising, and sharing his personal story as a public speaker presenting to his many colleagues in an effort to inspire and help others.
Robert will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his thoughtfulness, his kindness, and the deep love he gave so freely to those around him.
The family thank Dr. Matthew Greenacre and the wonderful nurses from the Ottawa Hospital for their compassion and care.
Service details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Liver Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Robert Morin, d’Ottawa, Ontario, survenu le samedi 9 août 2025, à l’âge de 60 ans.
Époux bien-aimé de Gianna Marinelli. Père chéri de Mathieu (Danica) et Benoit. Fils aimant de Bernard et Aline Morin, et frère dévoué de Monique (Alfonso) et Louise (Rob).
Robert occupait aussi une place très spéciale dans le cœur de ses nièces, neveux, tantes, cousins, cousines et amis, qui se souviendront toujours de sa chaleur humaine et de sa grande générosité.
Né à Ottawa, Robert a mené une carrière enrichissante de 35 ans au sein du gouvernement fédéral, œuvrant dans le domaine de l’informatique chez Industrie Canada.
En dehors de sa carrière, il nourrissait de nombreuses passions : la pêche, la météorologie, les voyages, la danse, les jeux de cartes, et le sport. Il jouait au hockey et au baseball, encourageait ses équipes préférées de hockey et de football, et profitait de nombreux séjours au chalet et en camping.
Robert possédait un don remarquable pour rassembler les gens. Il organisait les réunions de famille, était une présence constante et aimante auprès de ses parents et était un pilier pour ses deux fils.
Son bénévolat auprès de la Fondation canadienne du foie témoignait de son grand cœur — sensibilisation, collecte de fonds et partage de son histoire personnelle en tant que conférencier auprès de ses nombreux collègues, dans le but d’inspirer et d’aider les autres.
Robert sera toujours rappelé pour sa douceur, sa bienveillance, sa gentillesse et l’amour profond qu’il offrait généreusement à ceux qui l’entouraient.
La famille remercie le Dr. Matthew Greenacre ainsi que les merveilleuses infirmières de l’Hôpital d’Ottawa pour leur compassion et leurs soins.

Please accept our very deepest condolences. Robert was a tremendous and wonderful man. He was so strong and loved you all so very much. You were his world. Robert and I (Faye) went to high school together and many years later, reconnected and reminisced about our school days, many times. We shared stories about our families and always enjoyed hearing about each others lives. Rest in Peace dear friend. Holding you all in our thoughts, hearts and prayers 🙏❤️

J’ai eu la chance de travailler avec Robert pendant une bonne période, il était un bon ami, mes sympathies et condoléances à ses proches et à ses amis.
Mathieu et Danika, Benoit, de même que toute la famille. Que les bons moments en compagnie de “papa” sachent appaiser vos peines. Restez forts et unis devant l’épreuve.
