In Memory of Margaret Ellen “Peggy” Kampouris

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Peggy, with her beloved partner and great love Nicole (Nicky) Lévis by her side at the Civic Hospital.

Born in Sudbury, Ontario to Polly Anna (Mutz) and Dimitri George Kampouris, Peggy was engaging, vivacious and intellectually curious.  She brought energy into a room and drew people together, caring deeply, loving generously, and showing up for the people and commitments that mattered to her.

Peggy gave her time and energy to her work and local causes. She was a project manager, par excellence, working with the Ottawa Police Force, OC Transpo and the Federal Government on issues that ranged from intimate partner violence to the implementation of emerging technologies.

After suffering from a stroke in 2017, Peggy put her fearless spirit into her recovery allowing us eight additional years with her joy and love. For her, there were so many more parties to have, gardens to tend, and peaceful mornings to spend reading in the best of company. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

She will be missed beyond words and remembered with enduring love, leaving behind her spouse, Nicky; siblings; Maryanne (Michael), George and Frances Kampouris (John); Nieces and nephews: Rhianon Cowley-Owen, Gwynydd Murray (Devon), Arwen Vesely (Marty) and Lorien Cowley-Owen (Amy) as well as a host of great nephews and niece, cousins and la grande famille Lévis.

There will be an intimate closed celebration of life in the coming week.  The family appreciates your understanding at this time and asks that any donations made in Peggy’s name be directed to the Aphasia Centre of Ottawa:  Aphasia services in the Ottawa area – Aphasia Centre of Ottawa.

Our heart is breaking for Nicky and all of Peggy’s loved ones. We only knew her for a short time, but she light up the room when she entered. She will be missed. Hugs!
