November 16, 1944 – August 19, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Kathleen “Kathy” Hussey (née LeClair), surrounded by her family, on August 19, 2025.

Kathy loved her family deeply. She had a gentle, kind, and sweet demeanour, as well as an elegance that touched everyone who knew her. Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, she lived a full and meaningful life.

Her favourite pastime was cooking for family and friends. She also loved creating art through quilting, silk painting, and drawing. Sewing for her family was one of her greatest joys.

Kathy’s professional career began in administration and advanced into forensics and management during her 36 years at RCMP Headquarters in Ottawa.

Daughter of the late John Wilfred LeClair and Anne LeClair (née Fleming). Predeceased by her siblings Bill LeClair, Jim LeClair, Betty Brazeau, Pat Coulter, Ruth Rawlins, and Lillian Summers.

Kathy leaves behind her devoted husband of 45 years, Michael Hussey, as well as her beloved children: Kelly Blakeney (Mark), Tracey Brown (Dan), Ivan Brown (Nicolina), Joanne Hussey (Doug), and Leo Hussey (Kim). She will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren Michelle Kirkes (Aaron), Mitchell Robitaille (Michelle), Griffin Brown (Caitlin), Cayden Brown, Liam Clapp, Brenna Clapp, and Kieran Hussey, along with her great-grandchildren Jackson, Amelia, and Ivy.

She will also be fondly remembered by her sister Peggy Meloche, brother-in-law Bob Hussey (Sherry), lifelong best friends Ray and Lisette Donovan, and her many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 632, 800 Taylor Creek Dr., Orleans, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Montfort Hospital ICU for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Canadian Lung Association in Kathy’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

I am so deeply sorry for the family’s loss. There are no words that can truly ease the pain of losing someone so integral to the family.
My fondest memory includes anything that made Kathy laugh — It was a reflection of the beautiful, kind, and sweet soul that she was. Anyone who met her felt the genuine goodness in her heart, and the world feels a little dimmer without her in it.
Please know I am sending all my thoughts and warm hugs.
Katherine

Kathy was a fantastic person. very caring & dedicated to her family. I met Kathy at the RCMP & our friendship continued into retirement. Kathy’s patience with me , while trying to guide me through a quilting project, was great. Always a coffee & homemade treat when I dropped over. Kathy will be missed. I hope memories help you during this difficult time.
Most sincere sympathy.

Though we lived far apart and didn’t see each other often, when we did, I always felt the family bond—we jumped right in where we left off, and we truly enjoyed her company. Her warmth, kindness, and constant smile left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She and Uncle Mike shared a beautiful life and a strong, loving marriage of 45 years—something truly special. It’s clear how much she was cherished as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. My heart is with Uncle Mike and the whole family during this incredibly difficult time. We will always remember Aunt Kathy with love and gratitude—for her gentle spirit, her adventurous heart, her kindness and her huge, joyful smile that could light up any room.

Dear Mike,
I’m so sorry to hear about Kathy. She was a gentle person, such a wonderful loving woman. My heart goes out to you and your family at this difficult time. My most sincere condolences.

I was so sorry to hear about Kathy’s passing. We worked together at the RCMP for several years. No matter what office she worked in, she was always action central. Every unit functioned at its peak whenever Kathy was involved.

Life is a journey of sweetness and sorrow with yesterday’ memories and hopes for tomorrow. Although no words of sympathy can ease the loss, may her family and friends find some comfort knowing others care.

Kelly and Family,

My condolences on the passing of your wonderful Mother. I remember her fondly from our days working at Sears. She would visit you and always have time for all your friends. She had a wonderful smile and I always got a kick out of how easily you could embarrass her with something funny you would say.. She truly was lovely.

Condolences to our Ottawa relatives, Kelly, Tracey and Ivan and to my Mom (Margaret’s) brother in law and our uncle Mike. It is still hard for us to believe that Mom’s sister and our aunt, Kathy is gone. My mom is the only LeClair left. Kathy was such a force, so cheerful, thoughtful (her handmade gifts were awesome!) and always so interested in people. Always the hub of her family and extended family. She had a great sense of humour and a youthful spirit, and my Mom and I (Lynn) enjoyed talking to her when she called and hearing her family stories, current and oldtime ones. Regretfully, we hadn’t seen her in recent years, as everyone grew older. But we have great memories to cherish of her family visit for my Mom’s 80th birthday, at Willistead Manor, when everyone got together. We are so sorry for your loss.
Love
Aunt Peggy, Lynn, Karen, and on behalf of all the Meloche extended family
