In Memory of Judy McCormick (Mary Anne Frances Judith Greig)

It is with deep love and sadness that we share the passing of Judy McCormick, who died peacefully at Symphony Senior Living in Orléans, Ontario, at the age of 81. Born in Toronto, Ontario, to Rita and Leslie Greig, Judy lived a life filled with curiosity, kindness, and devotion to family. An Ontario Scholar out of high school, Judy went on to earn BSc (Social Science) and MA (Psyc) degrees before spending many years as a dedicated stay at home mother. She returned to school to earn a Bachelor of Education to pursue her passion for teaching. Judy taught at Terry Fox Elementary and Queenswood Heights Elementary Schools, where she inspired countless students with her warmth and patience.

Judy’s creative spirit gave her an appreciation for simple pleasures. She loved painting, theatre, horseback riding, knitting, reading, and coffee dates with friends—but her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs (not sure which one more).

She leaves behind her loving husband Michael McCormick; her three children Gregory (Kelley Doan), Eleanor (Robert Dawson), and Daniel (Michelle Purchase); her cherished grandchildren Jamie (Mark Berkovich), Owen, Violet, and Alex; and her brother Michael Greig (Joan). Judy faced her long battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s with courage and grace. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, remembered for her laughter, generous spirit, and gentle heart. We would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff at Symphony for the incredible care and compassion they gave Judy in her time there.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Ottawa Humane Society

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
