In Memory of John Paradis
Oct 23, 1943 – Apr 2, 2025
After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, it is with heavy hearts that we announce John’s peaceful passing at home, surrounded by family, at the age of 81.
Son of the late Madeleine Cardinal and JC Paradis, dear twin brother of Lise (Jacques), Claude (Ann) and Michel (Julie).
He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Marilou, and his three children Bonnie, Robert (Camille) and Sean (Jacques). He was a proud grandfather to Charlie, Liam, John and Marc.
He wore several hats, starting out as an auto worker in Windsor, where he met Marilou, to a radio operator in Gaspésie, to selling Encyclopedia Britannica, to finally settling into a fulfilling 33-year career practising law, retiring in 2011.
His next chapter allowed him to spend time with his family enjoying summers in Nanaimo and Cape Cod, and winters in Florida.
Special thanks to oncologist Dr. Michael Vickers, palliative care Dr. Charlene Habibi, OHA care coordinator Naomi Vumi, and the staff at Valley Stream Retirement Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd, Orleans on Tuesday, April 8 at 3:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
We are grateful for the time we had together, and thankful to have had the opportunity to say goodbye.
I went to law school with John and continued to have contact with John in practice. John was a positive personality and always friendly no matter the circumstances. His commitment, hard work and courage to attend law school and start a private practice mid-career was an inspiration. His passing marks the loss of a good man. My condolences to Marilou and all the family.
Marilou and family, please accept my sincere condolences.
My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to Marilou and family. I did not know John all that well but what I knew of him he was a very kind and gentle individual. I got the pleasure of meeting him several times years ago when I used to babysit their house and their cat, when Marilou and John went away for a week or so…..RIP John
