In Memory of Des Rivières, Roch Wilfred Georges Joseph

October 1st, 1960 – March 8th, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Roch Des Rivières, of Ottawa on Saturday March 8th, 2025, at the age of 64 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Cheryl (Trevor) Butler and Jason (Christine) Des Rivières; grandchildren: Madison, Dylan, Ashton, Joshua and Lincoln; brothers, Richard (Estelle), and Claude (Sonia); sister, Sandra; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Pierrette (née Carrière) and Georges Des Rivières; and his sister, Lynne.

Roch Des Rivières was a devoted father, spending years cheering on the sidelines of a soccer field, or in the hockey rink; even taking on coaching roles in both. He wanted nothing more than to give the gift of time. Roch Des Rivières had retired after 33 years employed with the City of Ottawa. Although, he didn’t wait until retirement to start living a life full of adventure and travel. He loved spending his winters somewhere warm and learning about the history and culture of the places he traveled. Roch Des Rivières loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm, on Saturday March 22nd, 2025, at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Hospice Care Ottawa, La Maison de l’Est for their care and compassion.

Words cannot express how saddened I am to learn of Roch’s passing.. My sincere condolences to his family.

My Sincere Condolences

I worked with Roch at the City of Ottawa public works facility.

Roch always welcomed me into his office for long talks. He enjoyed his job and wanted to help people.
Great all-around friend.

He always showed me his photos of his famous bike rides all over Canada and the USA. He loved Mexico.
He loved his family and would always talk about them.

He would always be the first person in the office in the morning and the last person to leave. All that said he had integrity to the city of Ottawa’s position.
