In Memory of Christine Casey
Christine Casey passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family and closest friends, on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the age of 63.
Christine was the cherished daughter of the late Denise Halka (late Bill Halka) and Earl Casey (Donna Henderson).
She will be deeply missed by her beloved daughter, Sandra Gagnier, and by her grand fur babies, whom she adored dearly.
She also leaves behind her loving partner of 11 years, Bernie Laberge; her stepdaughters, Émilie Laberge (Maurisio Caputo) and Karissa Laberge (Jean-Philippe Boyer); and her cherished grandchildren, Isabella, Dante, Noémie, and a grandson on the way.
Christine is also survived by her brother, Bruce Casey (Darlene Sharp), along with her loving niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Kevin Casey (Lucie Hébert), and still remembered by her beloved nieces, their spouses, and a great-nephew.
She will also be fondly remembered by the father of her daughter Sandra, Louis Gagnier (Hélène Noeldetilly-Roch), as well as by many treasured friends whose love and friendship meant so much to her throughout her life.
During the final seven weeks of Christine’s life, she was surrounded by an extraordinary circle of love and support — a circle of people that Christine herself chose and named. The family would especially like to recognize Carole Boudreault (Paul Boudreault), Linda Payant, Julie Savoie, Suzelle Gagnier (Luc Gagnier), Mylène Casault, and Denise Rousseau-Pistilli (John Pistilli). Their presence, kindness, friendship, and unwavering support meant more to Christine and her family than words could ever express. Those final weeks would simply not have been the same without them, and their love will never be forgotten.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of The Ottawa Hospital – General Campus, ParaMed, and Ontario Health at Home for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Christine and her family throughout her journey.
Family and friends are invited to gather in Christine’s memory at the Héritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Road, Orléans, Ontario, on Monday, October 5, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Christine’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel at the same location.
Please note: In honour of Christine, guests are warmly invited to wear a royal blue item of clothing or accessory — a colour she loved and one that will forever remind us of her beautiful sky-blue eyes.
For those wishing to honour Christine’s memory, donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada and/or Cystic Fibrosis Canada would be greatly appreciated.
Christine would have been deeply touched to see her family and friends gathered together in her honour, remembering, celebrating, and sharing the love of a life that meant so much to so many.
May she rest peacefully, forever remembered and forever loved.

Our deepest condolences.
To Sandra, Bernie, the Casey family and the Laberge family,
Christine was a very dear friend and colleague for many years and a rare gem of a person. It is sad to know that someone with such a big heart and generous soul had to battle so many health issues for so long. At the same time, it is comforting to know that she was surrounded with love and support by so many close relatives and lifelong friends in her final weeks. Her kindness touched many and will not be soon forgotten. She can now rest in peace.
Sincere condolences,
Tom (and Angela) McMullen
Mes sincères condoléances a toute la famille.
Chris,
I remember when I was 5, you 8, living on King George St, I’d run over across the street to Aunt Denise’s pies. We’d play board games.
Some years passed, and then we found ourselves in Blackburn. With Kev, Bruce, our cousin Luc when I was 14. That was a little tight community and you kept order, and kept us all on the right paths in the “bad” early 80s, just as you did when we all ended up at Grand-Mere’s place and cottages over those years.
You were the Matriarch of all us little cousins, and kept watch over us.
Years passed, and you were always there looking out for us, even when some us didn’t know.
Thank you so much for all you did without us knowing.
Dan
