Remembered with Love: Dorothy “Doris” Corbin

Doris decided she had played her last hand and called her final “Bingo!” on March 6, 2026, at the age of 88. She didn’t simply “pass away”—she realized her reservation was ready for her favorite steak and lobster dinner being served at the dinner party beyond.

A staple at the Euchre table, Doris was there for the chatter and the laughs rather than the trophies.  She played for the sheer joy of the company, the shared jokes, and those lucky trump cards that always came with a wink.

During her life when she wasn’t “going alone” you could find Doris at the curling rink or waiting with bated breath for that one elusive number at Bingo. For her, the “win” was never about the prize—it was about the friendships she made along the way.

Her true “Full House” was her family. Her husband and partner Gerry Corbin was  her source of strength and companionship for 52 years.  Doris remained the devoted mother of her four children, Anna Lou Marie Lingeman, John Edward Corbin, Jeffry Alan Corbin and Jacque Andre Corbin; who left this earth far too soon.  Her joy grew with her two grandchildren, Tanya Leigh Merriam and Ryan Jack Merriam  and reached its peak with her two great-grandchildren, Tyler Ryan Merriam and Troy Nicholas Merriam.

She believed most of life’s problems could be softened with a crisp white wine spritzer and that a perfect night began with an order of escargot followed by a decadent steak and lobster dinner and to satisfy her sweet tooth her favourite snowballs from Purdy’s was a guilty pleasure.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, a few “almost-won” Bingo cards, and a family that knows exactly how to toast to a life well-lived. In her honor, the family suggests you take someone you love out for a great dinner, start with the escargot, and raise a spritzer to a woman who knew that the best part of any game is the people you play it with.

In our hearts forever.
