In Memory of Frank Michael Aldrich “Mike”
July 27, 1960 – December 29, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mike Aldrich on December 29, 2025. Mike was a devoted and very loving husband of Nicole Fournier, with whom he shared 28 wonderful years of his life filled with unconditional love, partnership, and quiet joy. He was an incredible father to Melissa (Hugh Hanson), Jeffrey (predeceased) and Roxanne Lavergne (Jeff Jackson). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Evan, Kira, Ethan and Khloe, who adored their gentle and playful “Pépé”.
He was the cherished son of Dolly and Leo (both predeceased). He leaves behind his sisters Nancy (Henry Roelofs), Cathy (David Clermont) and brothers Ronald (Pansy), Vincent. Predeceased by his sister Susan (Gordon Hilliker), his brothers Robert (Johanne) and Jim. Mike will be missed by his in-laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Mike began his employment with OC Transpo on July 26, 1982 as Bus Operator. He was promoted to Dispatcher position on April 5, 1992 where he remained until his retirement on March 1, 2022.
Mike loved the outdoors, he always teased that he was one with nature. Those who knew him remember his calm spirit, sharp sense of humour, and the way he showed up—steadily, quietly, and consistently—for the people he loved. He had a gift for making others feel safe, and cared for, and his presence will be deeply missed. Mike deeply valued his fraternal relationship with Bernie Couture (Carol) and Rick Hagley (Diane).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to support Rogers House, a cause close to his heart. Contributions can be made at: https://www.rogerneilsonchildrenshospice.ca
Mike leaves behind a legacy of love, gentleness, and unwavering devotion. His memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the lives he touched, and the quiet moments of warmth he brought to the world. We welcome family and friends to a Celebration of life to be held at the Heritage Funeral Complex located at 1250 Trim Road in Orléans on January 15th, 2026 between 1pm-4pm.
May he rest in peace.

Mike was always one of my favourite dispatchers. Always a smile for us drivers.
When I first started work at OC Transpo Mike was always super helpful in answering questions, keeping me informed and getting me on my way. Over time we became work friends and many times shared some great laughs and some great stories. Mike was without a doubt, one of the best dispatchers.
Mike always made me laugh. I happened to be on his bus one day. I stood and chatted with him. As I was getting off at my stop, Mike said loudly: “What do you mean 20 bucks? What do you mean a cheap hotel”? I was shocked but couldn’t help but laugh. Rest in Peace my dear brother in law. You are back with Jeffrey. ❤️
I was so sorry to hear that Mike had passed away. My deepest heartfelt condolences to all the Aldrich family.
I worked with Mike, as an Operator first; and then later more closer when he became part of A.T.U. Local 279. Mike was a terrific co-worker and as time passed by we became friends. His great sense of humor and slick comebacks were unmatched, which did gain him many lifelong friends. I always got a wave and a “hey Mogli” from him whenever we met.
Well Mike, you will certainly be missed. Until we meet again. . 🙏🏾
P.S. – I am sorry I am currently in India thus would be unable to attend the Celebration.
I met Mike in 1986 and shared many laughs over the years of working together. He will be missed by many.RIP my friend our thoughts are with the remaining family during this difficult time. Dave & Kelly
Sorry for your loss. Mike was a kind soul. I had the pleasure of working with him at OC Transpo. He was a very knowledgeable dispatcher. I came to know him first when I worked as an operator then for a short while as a dispatcher. He was one of my trainer and mentor and had better chance to worked with him for years.
He will be missed.
It was a sad day and felt throughout the company when Mike retired but it broke my heart to hear of his passing. Mike was one of my favourite people at work. Always happy to see everyone, would share a laugh, and even help the juniors whenever he could and he did all this in a calm and cool manner. You’ll be forever missed Mike. May you rest in peace ❤️
Dear Family, Friends, and Colleagues,
I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Michael Aldrich — Mike.
I had the privilege of working with Mike for the past 18 years. He was a very helpful man, honest and straightforward with his opinions. Mike never pretended to be something he wasn’t. If you treated him with respect, didn’t try to take advantage of him, and didn’t try to be “too smart” with him, he would always help you.
He was extremely knowledgeable about the company, the rules, and the pressures we face as operators. He understood the job, and he understood people.
Mike was also a very happy man, always with his own unique sense of humor. I will never forget how he used to lean back in his chair during quiet moments. When I once asked him, “Mike, are you sleeping?” he smiled and said, “No, I’m praying to God.” Then he added, “God says He loves you.”
That moment still makes me smile today.
Mike also had a way of teaching lessons you never forgot. One day, I tried to be a little too smart with him and asked if he could cut a piece of my work. He did — and he cut it at Millennium Station at 4:00 p.m. rush hour. It took me at least two hours to get back to the garage. I never tried that again. That was Mike: fair, sharp, and unforgettable.
I am truly grateful to have known him and worked alongside him. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched. He will be greatly missed.
May he rest in peace.
With deepest sympathy,

Deepest sympathy to Nicole and your family from Claire and I. I got to know Mike from his first days at O.C. from driver to dispatcher to being on the executive board together. We had so much fun playing oldtimers hockey golfing to dispatcher’s parties to karoke The most fun times was the 9:30 bookings. Always remembered his favorite saying. God I’m gassy. Rest in Peace Special thanks to Bernie for being such a kind and special friend to Mike.
I will always remember Mike from how helpful he was as a dispatcher when I first started. He was the reason a lot of new drivers kept going and are where they are now. I specifically remember a time when he came out of the dispatcher office to help a group of new drivers who were in their first week driving. No one else would go above and beyond the way Mike did. He also had inside jokes with almost everyone, myself included. I will always remember your kindness Mike. Thank you for being such a great person.
To Ron, Nancy, Cathy, Vince and Aldich Family, sending sincere condolences on the passing of Mike.
So many childhood memories from the Hawthorne Avenue days come flooding back.

As a driver I never booked spare work so never knew any of the Dispatchers very well. When I became a Dispatcher was when I really began to know them. Mike was our Health and Safety rep. with the Union and he kind of rubbed me the wrong way during a disagreement of a health issue we had when emptying fareboxes in the garage and started us off on the wrong foot. Eventually we worked closer together and that was when I really got to know him. His sense of humor was so sharp and well-timed, you couldn’t stop yourself from laughing. He once made laugh so hard I momentarily passed out in the desk beside me. When he talked of being gassy he wasn’t kidding. I was always hot, working in the St. Laurent dispatch office and always had a fan blowing on me. Mike would pretend to stand up to stretch his legs, then proceed to let one go behind the fan so it would be sucked toward me. We became great friends outside of work and had season tickets together at the Redblacks games. Mike had three loves in his life. Family, beer and football. Eventually my wife Diane and I became part of his family, along with his childhood friend Bernie Couture and Bernie’s wife Carol. Mike was an amazing friend and I’m still in shock that he left us in a split second. All anyone ever wants to leave behind is a legacy. Among your legacy of family, Mike, you leave behind hundreds of beople who have cherished memories of you. I hope you’re having an amazing journey my friend. You are loved by so many.
Dear Nicole and family,

I’ll never forget Mike. He was my first love and the father of my children. Even when we divorced, he was always in my heart.
A few times we’d meet for a drink, and of course there was always the birthday wishes. We weren’t perfect, but we tried the best we could. I’ll love you always Mike.
Bless you. Rest In Peace
