In Memory of David Wayne Stinson
It is with sorrow that the family announces the passing of David, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Heather (nee Moreland), his daughter, Jennifer, siblings Sharyn, Linda, Philip and Michael, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Eamen and Connie Stinson.
David was born in Ottawa and worked in the sheet metal trade, where he was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association Local Union 47. David will be remembered for his tremendous manual skills, his love of Florida, a fondness for animals, his neighbourly connections, and his generosity.
The family wishes to thank, Shari, of Bayshore Home Care, for her exceptional palliative care and the doctors and staff at Maison de l’Est for their care and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to the Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Road, for a celebration of life on Sunday, December 21 from 1:00-4:00 with words of remembrance at 2 p.m. In honor of David’s love of colour and desserts, guests are invited to wear something colourful and to partake of some sweets. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care Ottawa, any animal charity or a charity of choice.

Blessed to have known you if only for a short while Dave. May your sole rest in perfect peace and your family find comfort in knowing one day you will meet again. Much love and many hugs!
We were neighbors of Dave and Heather for three years on Harrowsmith Way. Dave was a very kind and hardworking man. We remember when he got his mint green Harley Davidson motor bike. He loved it. We send our most sincere condolences to Heather, Jennifer and to David’s siblings.
Heather and Jennifer. I am so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. May you both find strength in knowing that he is at rest and no longer suffering. To his siblings Sharyn, Linda, Phil and Mike my heart goes out to you all
Always in my thoughts, Debbie
Dave will be deeply missed on Harrowsmith Way. He was a neighbour like no other, and even the neighbourhood dogs adored stopping by for a pat and the chance of a treat. Rest in peace, Dave—may you now be free of pain.
Dave was a staple in the neighbourhood with his unwavering sense of community, always looking out for each one he cared for. He became an amazing friend to my family and we will miss him immensely. May he rest in peace.
