In Memory of Wendy Kieran Madigan

It is with extreme sadness, we announce the passing of Wendy Kieran Madigan, age 65, who passed away peacefully on November 29th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Wendy was born on October 30th, 1959, in Montreal, Quebec, the beloved daughter of Bryan Kieran and Gail Kieran (née Goodhand). Throughout her life, she embraced each challenge with courage, each joy with gratitude, and each moment with her warmth and generosity. Wendy found her soulmate in Kenneth Madigan, whom she married on May 21st, 2017, at the picturesque Calabogie Peaks Resort. Their love story began in 2003 when they met while working together at the Corel Centre. From that moment on, Wendy and Ken were inseparable, sharing a bond built on love, mutual respect, and a deep connection that only grew stronger over the years. Together, they created a life filled with cherished memories, from family gatherings to quiet moments of joy. Wendy’s love for Ken, her devotion to their shared life, and their partnership will forever be remembered as one of the most meaningful chapters of her life. Wendy’s dedication to serving her country began at the young age of 17, when she enlisted in the Canadian Military. She devoted herself to her service for an impressive 24 years, retiring in 2001.

After her retirement from the military, Wendy transitioned to the federal public service, where she continued her career with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). She worked with the same dedication and professionalism that marked her military service, retiring in 2017 at the age of 58. Wendy’s contributions to both the military and public service were a testament to her unwavering commitment to her country, and she leaves behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and service.

Wendy was a woman of many interests and passions. She loved spending her free time on the golf course, where she enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie of the game. Wendy also had a deep love for adventure, and over the years, she traveled extensively throughout the United States with her loving husband Ken in their trailer, cherishing the beauty of new places and the freedom of the open road. Above all, Wendy treasured time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. Whether it was shopping for special gifts, making memories on family outings, or simply enjoying quiet moments together, her family was always at the heart of her happiness. Wendy also found peace and warmth in Arizona, where she spent many winters, embracing the sunshine and the opportunity to recharge. Her vibrant spirit, love for life, and devotion to those she held dear will be deeply missed. Wendy will be forever cherished in the memories of her spouse, Kenneth Madigan; children and their spouses, Sean/Lauren Couvrette, Brian/Hawna Couvrette, and Matt Madigan/Quinn Klassen; grandchildren, Landon, Sydney, Nash, Imogen, Auston, Sybil, Charlotte, Brooks; sister and her husband, Connie/Francis Vachon; brother, Kevin Kieran; Tante to, Brittany Kieran, Erika/Brad Morrison, Kevin Kieran and Marysa Vachon/Jacob Carew, brother/sister in laws, Sylvester/Mary-Lyn, Tim/Kim, Des/Robin, Lenard/Linda, Bernie/Julie and all of the Madigan family clan.

Preceding Wendy in death are her parents, Bryan Kieran and Gail Kieran (Goodhand). A celebration of Wendy’s life, including a mass and burial, will take place in May 2025. Further details will be announced at that time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Wendy’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Wendy, you will forever be missed, but never forgotten.

Our sincerest condolences to Ken, Matt and their families on the passing of our dear Wendy. She was such a great lady. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sadness. ❤️

Dear Ken and extended family – Art and I are so deeply saddened by the news of Wendy’s passing. We know that her absence leaves a very large hole in your hearts and in your lives. It was wonderful to meet and get to know Wendy over the course of the last several years. We shared many things – a love of travel, a love of adventure, a love of fun – but most importantly – a love of our shared family. We knew when we last saw Wendy in Hamilton that something “wasn’t quite right” but we attributed it to a rushed schedule, as well as the fact that Gramma Wendy had spent the last couple of days with our active and lively granddaughters! In spite of this, we enjoyed good conversation, a few good laughs and talked about when we would next see each other. We will miss you Wendy. Rest in Peace.
