In Memory of Tanya Louise Griffiths

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tanya Louise Griffiths at the age of 48 on Nov-14-2023. She was the daughter of Faye and Ken Barkhouse of Antigonish. Wife of 18 years to David Griffiths, and mother of son Cameryn and daughters Kristin and Mykenna of Orleans.

After a long battle with lupus and a short battle with cancer, Tanya passed away at Bruyère Saint-Vincent Hospital Palliative Care in Ottawa with her husband and son by her side.

As a dedicated mother, Tanya always supported and loved her family. She and her husband David worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their family. From late nights at hockey rinks, afternoons at horse stables or dance recitals, or many trips to the mall, she always put her kids first.

Tanya will now join her father Ken Barkhouse in a better place.

Please join us at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd., Orléans on Friday Nov-24th from 2-4 for a Celebration of Tanya’s life with words of honor at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Lupus Canada in Tanya’s memory.

Condolences

David, I was so saddened to hear of the passing of your dear wife, Tanya. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Tanya, after reading the obituary, she sounds like a great lady. So please accept our condolences at this tough time and remember that you are loved. Keep your family close. They are most important at this time in your life. Love from uncle Ron and Mary Ann

Tanya was like one of our daughters. She lived with us for a couple of years in Peterborough as she attended Sir Sanford Fleming College. We all loved Tanya from the second we met her. She was the perfect fit for our family….even Misty our dog loved her. When Tanya moved on to other adventures in her life we truly missed having her around. The next time we heard from her she let us know that she had just had Cameron, her beautiful sweet boy. He was her pride and joy. They came to visit us later on, I believe Cameron was maybe 2 at the time. Tanya also brought her Mom and Dad along too for us to meet. What a great visit we had with little Cameron running all around. That was the last time we had seen or heard from Tanya for a very long time. We had moved to Ottawa in 2006 and after a couple of years I seen on facebook that she was looking for a Dr. McStuffin’s Doctor Kit for her little girl for Christmas. So we looked around for one and found it at Toys R’us in Kanata. I immediately reached out to her receiving a quick response from Tanya. She was over joyed as we were. We met up with her at Tim Horton’s in Orleans to deliver this special gift for her daughter Mykenna. As time went on and I followed her on fb, we could tell she was the Best Mom Ever. We could tell that all of her 3 children were her pride and joy. Unfortunately we never had the pleasure in meeting David but we are hoping to next Friday.
We are heart broken to say the least to hear this news. Our hearts and prayers go out to Tanya’s Family
