In Memory of Sangeeta Prabhakar
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sangeeta Prabhakar, beloved wife to Bhagwati for over 50 years and cherished mother to Geetanjali, Gauri and Gaurav. She is predeceased by her parents Sukhdev and Satya Sharma and her brothers Jitendra and Vikram. Sangeeta will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Rohit (the late Alka) and Rakesh (Nishtha), her sister-in-law Sheila (the late Ram) and her extended family. Sangeeta passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2023, at the Ottawa General Hospital surrounded by her family.
Sangeeta inspired us with her dedication to family and friends, her devotion to her faith and her uncomplaining and optimistic approach to life. Her generosity was unparalleled. Whether it be a plant cutting, a tray of samosas or a piece of sound advice, Sangeeta was the first to volunteer. Her presence in our lives will be forever missed.
We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and health care providers that cared for her, with special thanks to Doctor Alexandra Fottinger of the Critical Care Department at The Ottawa General Hospital and family physician, Doctor Mary Mikhail.

Sangita was a very special friend who will be missed greatly by her family and friends. She was a great cook and an avid gardener. With all the pain and challenges of her health she never stopped smiling and joking and helping others in their need. It’s hard to say goodbye. May your soul transcend to heavenly peace.
In our lives we rarely come across people who touch our souls, Pinky aunty was truly one of them. I clearly remember the day when I first met her which was about 6 years ago. It was my first day Ottawa, far away from my family back in India. I was going through heaps of emotions but she made me feel comfortable and reassured that she will always have her doors open for me. Little did I know that I would end up gaining another family in a foreign land… I aspire to be like her, to be nurturing and so full of love! I hope one day I can be the ‘Pinky Aunty’ to someone when they would need me the most.
Thank you the Ottawa Family for all your unconditional love and constant support. I’m hoping to seeing you soon on this side of the globe.
We are very sorry to hear the sad news. Our sincere condolences to the family. May God bless her soul. Om Shanti 🕉.

I am so saddened by this news. Sangeeta was a wonderful, sweet, soft spoken lady who I had the pleasure of caring for for several years. I will miss our light-hearted conversations and hearing about her every day life. She never complained, and was always so kind and generous. One of the nicest people I ever knew. I’m so sorry for the family and their loss.
