In Memory of Ruth “Ruthie” Claire Allen
Peacefully in Ottawa, on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 in her 89th year. Predeceased by her husband, John, son Greg (the late Nancy), her parents, and brother. Sister of Beverly McDonald, dear mother and mother-in-law of Scott (Lynn) and Kirk (Natalie). Cherished grandmother of Jessica (Adam), Meagan (Luc), Brett (Mel), Jeremy (Jenna), Peter, and Lucas (Megan) and step granddaughters, Kayla (Thierry) and Alana (Ashley). Dear great grandmother of Cohen, Avery, Emma, Nico, Charlotte Ruth, Kingston, Carter, Chase, and Hannah.
A remarkable woman, Mom was our family’s chief cook and bottle-washer. A friend and cousin to so many, she was a craft-loving grandmother, tasteful decorator, wonderful home chef, gracious hostess, good neighbour, amateur gardener, superb cottage keeper of the McDonald family homestead at Lake Barron, Quebec, classy dresser, quick moving, energetic and a tad particular.
A private family service to be held later. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Our sincere condolences to Scott and Kirk and their families. Your mom, will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time ❤️🙏🦋❤️

Sending my sympathy at this sad time. It was a joy having Ruth visit in my garden many years ago with Scott and Lynn. She was gracious and very special. May the memories of cherished times each of you had with Ruth provide some measure of comfort on the loss of someone loved dearly. It is never easy to say goodbye to those who have always been in our life but the love we feel for them lives on in our heart.
My deepest sympathy to Scott and Lyne, Kirk and his family. My heart especially goes out to Peter John and Lucas who are special to me
I have loved and idolized Ruthie my entire life. I stayed at Aunt Rita’’s one summer and Ruthie taught me to swim . I was her flower girl at her wedding, the most important event in my childhood. .She was always so supportive and protective and kind to me. . I have missed her so much this last year when she wasn’t at the cottage.
May all your wonderful memories of a great lady sustain you all through this sad time. My thoughts are with you..

Always an extra sadness when we lose our last parent. Sorting through a lifetime of memories. May you hold onto the good ones as you grieve. May our hearts share some of your burdens & make this time a little lighter. Much love, Tim and Nancy

Condolences to you and family in the loss of your mother. I was her “room-mate” at Elizabeth Bruyere back in June for several days. She, too, had trouble eating the meals there as did I. Such a lovely lady.
