In Memory of Raymonde Fontaine
Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 2, 2019.
Mondie touched many lives with her radiant smile, her joyous warmth, her humour, strength and love. Born in St. Marc Haiti, she is the youngest of 5 children born to Biene and Lamercie (Othelo) Michel. She emigrated to Canada in 1971 to start life as a student in Montreal, and soon after married and moved to Ottawa where she gave birth to and raised her three beautiful children, Karline, Raymond, and Melika Fontaine. Raymonde shared a special, unique bond with her children raising a family that is close-knit, supportive and loving.
Family was central in her life, and Mondie continued her special family bond with her grandchildren; Enrick, Matheo, Viviana, Rahim, Amari, and Zain Fontaine, Keandre Gordon and Alkaia Simone Villega-Fontaine. She was a central figure of love and life in all their lives.
She loved to travel, laugh, cook, eat and be surrounded by loved ones. She especially loved spending time with her dear family in New York and Haiti. She had an incredibly close sisterhood of cherished friends who were as important to her as her family.
She gave of herself greatly at the Pavillion du Parc where she dedicated herself a 35-year career caring for children with mental and physical disabilities.
Mondie will always be remembered for her Joie de vivre that was unparalleled; her deep love for her family, friends, and community. Mondie loved her church and lived her life embraced by the Catholic faith.
We will celebrate her beautiful life and soul with a funeral service on Saturday July 13, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish Church, 2757 Boulevard St-Joseph, Orleans ON, K1C1G4 (613) 824-2472.
The viewing will be held from 6 – 9pm on Friday July 12th at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Road, Orléans, Ottawa, ON K4A 3P7.
