In Memory of Raymond Stone

After a year-long battle with cancer, Raymond Stone passed away peacefully in his sleep and surrounded by family on October 31, 2017, at the early age of 54.
He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 30 years, Francine, his two children Andrew (Leandie) and Sarah (Johnathan), his siblings David (Carmen) and William, and the beloved family dog, Molly. He will be sadly missed by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers.

Ray was born November 21, 1962, in Ottawa and enjoyed living in Ottawa all his life. He was a devoted employee for over 33 years at Carleton University with Facilities Management Planning. He was hard working, took pride in his work, and was honored to be part of the university and contributing to the education of students. Most notably, he was overjoyed that his children frequently visited him at work during their studies and are now alumni of the university.

Ray was known for his goofy humor and being a caring and supportive father and friend. His greatest joy in life was his family. He took great pleasure in listening to music, watching movies, learning from documentaries and dabbling in photography with vintage and homemade cameras. Ray was frequently active; he liked quiet bicycle rides through nature trails, going for jogs, ice skating and most recently discovered the entertaining and lively experience of cruise ship vacations with his wife.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at Heritage Funeral Complex, located at 1250 Trim Road, Orleans on Sunday, November 5th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 6th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Helen’s Anglican Church located at 1234 Prestone Drive, Orleans which will be immediately followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery at approximately 2:00 p.m.

The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses, support staff and volunteers at the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Center and the May Court Hospice for the support, care and compassion provided. A special thank you to the family’s close friends and neighbours for their devoted love and support during these hard times.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation or the May Court Hospice would be appreciated.
