In Memory of Patrick Halpin
Patrick Edouard Halpin, born May 15, 1936 in Saint Eustache, Manitoba, passed peacefully into the next life on May 13, 2020 at the age of 83 at Maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie in Gatineau, Quebec. He was surrounded by his four beloved daughters, Monique, Yvette, Hélène and Michelle.
A loving and devoted family man, a loyal friend, a long-time advocate of causes and people, a pious and humble man, a bon vivant, a life-long learner, a distance athlete and dancer, and a wise and beautiful soul… Papa-Papi-Patrick was a wonderful role model and inspiration to his daughters; his three sons-in-law, Dan, Mike and Dave; his grand-children, Mathieu, Geneviève, Christian, Samuel, Nicolas, MacKenzie, Jasmine and Nayeli; and great-grand child, Ted Olivier.
Patrick will also be missed by his cherished sisters, Jeannette and Olive, by cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and second family at the Résidence de l’Île. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marianne (née Gervais), his father, John, and his brothers, Charles and Fred. Patrick’s smile and his infectious joie de vivre will be missed by everyone who has had the honour to know him.
The family would like to express its heart-felt gratitude to the caregivers and personnel at the Résidence de l’Île, the hemodialysis department of the Hull Hospital, and at the hospice Maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie, all of whom demonstrated great compassion and caring during difficult and unusual circumstances.
Due to travel and gathering restrictions, a celebration of life will occur at a later date.
In Patrick’s memory, please consider a donation to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (https://kidney.akaraisin.com/ui/generaldonation/donations/start) or to the hospice Maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/t/26455).
