In Memory of Oswald Nathaniel Williams

Oswald Nathaniel Williams was born on January 6th, 1930 in St. Margaret’s Bay in the Parish of Portland, Jamaica from the parents of John Williams and Estella Anderson. He was the youngest of six children. From very humble beginnings, Oswald (also called Ossie) attended a technical high school in Kingston and later got a scholarship to study electronics in the United States. He moved to New York in 1961 to complete his studies and later relocated to Canada in 1964 to join his brothers Tony and George. Oswald met Mary Glasgow in 1964 while working at EMC and the two got married in December of 1966. In the late 60s, Ossie transitioned from working in the electronics field to teaching in High School. He later completed both a Bachelor degree and a Master degree in Science from the State University of New York. After a long and successful career as a teacher with most of it spent at Mary Mount High School in Montreal, he finally retired in 1993. Ossie had three sons…Junior, Andy and Lawrence. Ossie was described by many as a hard working and ambitious man who loved to travel, enjoyed playing guitar as a hobby and also enjoyed various sports. In later years, he volunteered at Good Companions playing music for seniors and he also did small appliance repair for them free of charge. He is survived by his three sons Junior, Andy and Lawrence and his loving wife Mary Williams. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Road, Orléans, on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A ceremony will follow in the Heritage Funeral Complex Chapel at 12 p.m. followed by a reception where friends and family can gather and share stories.
