In Memory of Nicholas John Halley
Tragically on Saturday October 2nd our Nicky lost his fight with addiction at the tender age of 26.
Heartbroken are his father Bruce, mother Josée (Alain), sister Catlyn (Matthew), brother Chris (Erica), grandparents Phil & Gaby, nephew Benjamin, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and all those he encountered on his journey who tried to help.
Predeceased by his sister April.
He will always be remembered for his loving charm, humour, charisma and infectious smile.
He accomplished much in his short life including earning his junior black belt in karate by the age of 12, scuba diving PADI certificate, running in multiple fundraising 5-10km events, talented skateboarder, snowboarder, musician, cyclist, animal lover, volunteer, traveler and artist with a great passion for all things graffiti. He was a student of life with potential for greatness.
Whether you were family, a friend or a stranger, he would listen and speak openly, always trying to help others even if unable to help himself.
If you yourself are struggling from addiction, know that every breath is a fresh start. Know that hundreds of thousands of families who have lost someone to this disease are rooting for you. Know that we believe with all our hearts that you can and will make it. It is never too late.
If any life can be saved because his was lost, his goal of helping others will carry on.
An informal ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held Friday October 15th from 1-4pm at Brittania Park at the trolley station pavilion. COVID protocols will be followed, masks required if non vaccinated.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation to the Royal Ottawa Hospital Foundation (https://www.theroyal.ca/donate) or Serenity House (http://www.serenityhouseottawa.com/donations)

Nick, you were such a happy, fun loving young man growing up in and keeping Halley’s Service Centre clean and organized for the customers. You grew up beside my wonderful sons while they worked there. We all have many fond memories of you which we will carry forever in our hearts. Rest In Peace now Nick.

Nick a vécu de bons moments avec mon fils. Ce dernier en parlait toujours en bien. J’ai rencontré Nicholas de nouveau il n’y a pas longtemps, cet été, et sa joie de vivre était palpable.
