In Memory of Monique Rochefort
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Monique (Fogarty) Rochefort, at Saint-Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Ste-Famille d’Aumond, Québec, to Jean André Fogarty and Éliane (Labelle), on March 27, 1927. Monique had a cheerful personality and everyone who crossed her path was touched by her optimism and generosity. An attentive and encouraging mother, she transmitted to her 10 children the importance of perseverance and joie de vivre. Her warm smile, sense of humour and friendly teasing will be greatly missed.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Rochefort. Her spirit lives on in her children Michel, Suzanne (Dunn), Jean, Thérèse (Carrière), Lise, André, Pierre, Diane, Jocelyne and Claire (Zajac). Also survived by their loving spouses and her sister Pauline Trudel. Proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also predeceased by her brother John-James Fogarty, her sisters Rita (Gohier) and Marguerite (McEvoy). Affectionately known as “Ma tante Monique” by many nieces and nephews.
Trained as a teacher, she worked as a substitute in local schools while raising her big family. She had many passions including knitting, gardening and especially singing. For many years, she sang with the church choir and Les Chansonniers.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Heritage Funeral Complex (1250, Trim Rd., Orléans), Friday, January 4rd from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Église Ste-Marie (4831 Innes Rd., Orléans) on Saturday, January 5th, at 11 a.m.
The family wishes to thank all those who shared their sympathies.
