In Memory of Michael Mosindi
Michael Ayaegbunem Mosindi, lovingly known as “Mike” or “Big Mike,” was born on July 29, 1966, to Diokpa Alphonsius and Mrs. Stella Mosindi of Umuolo Quarters, Onicha-Ugbo Town, Delta State, Nigeria. He was the cherished brother of Clement, Vera, and Mary Mosindi.
Mike was a man of great kindness, sincerity, and generosity—a gentle giant with a heart full of love. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, known for his loyalty, warmth, and contentment in life. His presence brought joy to all who knew him.
For 26 years, Mike worked at Ottawa Fibre/CertainTeed, where he earned the respect and affection of his colleagues, forming lifelong friendships that became as close as family. He also spent two years working in
Montreal, where he continued to build meaningful connections and deepen his bonds with others.
A proud Nigerian, Mike’s love for his heritage led him to become an active member of the Nigerian Association of Ottawa. He was also a founding member and former treasurer of Anioma Ottawa, an association dedicated to supporting the indigenous people of Anioma, Nigeria. Through these affiliations, Mike remained deeply connected to his roots, always striving to promote the well-being of his community.
Outside of work and community service, Mike had a deep love for music, particularly Afrobeats, old-school R&B, and reggae. He also had a passion for football (soccer), and as a devoted Arsenal fan, he was always cheering on his team with enthusiasm.
Above all, Mike’s greatest joy was his family. His children, Azike and Ngozi, were the center of his world, and he dedicated himself to their
well-being and success. His love for them knew no bounds. He was also deeply devoted to his wife, Dekote, his best friend and the love of his life. Together, they shared 26 wonderful years of love, laughter, and partnership.
Mike passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, following a brief illness. Though his time with us was too short, his legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dekote, his children, Azike and Ngozi, his brother Clement, and sisters Vera and Mary.
May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
Dee and children. We are deeply sorry for your loss. We pray the spirit of the Lord will give you His peace. We mourn at this time with you. Love you all
Your cousins,

To all of Mike’s family, and especially Dekote, Azike and Ngozi, we are so saddened by your loss. Mike is gone way too soon, but he will be fondly remembered by your neighbors on Dorima Street. He always had a ready smile and wave when we greeted him and many will remember him singing on the backyard deck. May your memories of his love for you bring you comfort. Don’t hesitate to let us know if you need any assistance in the months to come.
Barry and Ann (2050 Dorima)
Dee, we want you to know that we are standing with you and beside you during this difficult time. We are so sorry for your loss and may God continue to grant you and kids the strength to overcome sadness, pain or anything that’s not of him. We love you and we will also miss Mike.
