In Memory of Marilyn Parker
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Ann Parker (nee Jones), on February 2, 2018 at the age of 72. Beloved wife of Jacques (2006). Loving mother of Deborah (Shane), Darlene, Jennifer (Tyler) and Christopher. Dear grandmother of Kira, Lily, Phelan, Carys and Kaitlyn. Sister of Susan Pinard (Paul). She is predeceased by her brother Robert. She will be missed by her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was the eldest of three children born to Kenneth and Lillian Jones. In the early 1950s, the family lived in Trenton and Clinton, Ontario. In 1957, they moved to an airforce base near Rivers, Manitoba. Two years later they settled in Ottawa and Marilyn attended Laurentian High School. Shortly thereafter she began her career with Transport Canada and she remained a dedicated employee until her retirement. She then did some contractual work for the Legal Services Department of the HRDC.
Marilyn will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. Marilyn was a dedicated wife and mother; family meant everything to her. She supported her children in everything they did from Brownies and Scouts to ringette, hockey, swimming and soccer. She and Jack covered thousands of miles on the 401 travelling to camps and tournaments. In their spare time, they would pack up the kids and the dogs and the tent trailer and explored as much of Canada as they could. Marilyn always saw the good in everyone. She enjoyed helping others and always found time to volunteer. She believed in finding joy and beauty in the simplest of things. Marilyn will always be remembered for saying, “Do what makes you happy”.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Heritage Funeral Complex (1250 Trim Road, Orleans) on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 2 pm. to 4 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm.
