In Memory of Marcelle Soucie
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a mother, a grandmother, a sister and a friend. Marcelle Soucie passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with her illness and surrounded by her children, on February 1, 2020. We are left with many fond memories that we will cherish in our hearts forever. The tenderness and genuine friendships she displayed to her family and friends had no limits. Sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to visit her in the last days of her life. It was very important for her not to feel alone.
Daughter of the late Dr. Guillaume Soucie and of the late Marguerite Soucie (Beaudoin), she will be sadly missed by her children: Daniel Potvin (Carole Leclerc-Potvin), Robert Potvin, Gilles Potvin (Shelina Virani-Potvin) and Julie Potvin; her grandchildren: Cédrik Potvin, Gabrielle Potvin, Chad Potvin and Tyson Lachance. She is also survived by her sisters: Renée (Oneal Trahan), Andrée (the late Gérard Dubé), Nicole Soucie-Martin (Téo Martin), as well as her brothers: Pierre (Thu Seangio), Bruno (Denise Cliche) and Daniel (Helen Soucie). She was predeceased by her brother Gabriel.
Lover of classical music, she spent her days reading about wide variety of subjects, knitting for her family and friends and challenged herself with cross word puzzles, all while listening to “good music “, as she often described it.
Her curiosity and thirst to continually learn allowed her to become very knowledgeable to search and communicate on the Internet. With the help of many technological tools and countless dedicated hours, she was able to publish “La généalogie de la famille Soucie” which appeared in the La Source newspaper, Volume XI. In 2018, l’Association des familles Soucy, honoured her with the MÉRITAS award in recognition of her exceptional contribution of her transcripts on the history and genealogy of the Soucie and Soucy families.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd., Orléans, on Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A ceremony will follow in the Heritage Chapel at 12 p.m. For those wishing, in memoriam donations would be appreciated to the Bruyère Foundation, the CHEO Foundation or to a charity of your choice. Marcelle’s family wish to thank the palliative care team at the Elisabeth-Bruyère Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion shown during Marcelle’s 40 day stay.
