In Memory of Laura Wood

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ms. Laura Lee Wood, on May 11th at the age of 57, in Ottawa. Daughter of Deward Wood and the late Betty Wood, and sister of Steven Wood; she is survived by her daughters Émilie, Maxine and Sophie Longtin.

Laura had a vivacious personality and made friends through every interaction. She loved to travel, and on any occasion, you would find her dancing, whether in the kitchen or on the dancefloor. She will always be remembered for her optimism and strength.

The family will welcome relatives and friends at the Elhattons Funeral Home Ltd., 187 St. George Street, Bathurst, New-Brunswick at a time and date to be determined.

My dear friend Laura…Gone way too soon. Laura moved to Sutherland Drive which was close to my homestead. We became friends immediately and that is where our story started. I can remember our times together, our bicycle rides, car rides, our adventures of walking our beach at our cottage, our trips to gatherings with the friends from down shore, I can go on and on….we graduated together and I consider her to be one of my good friends that even if we didn’t see one another as often as in our early years we chatted on fb and stayed in touch…She was blessed to be a mother to 3 beautiful girls and love them so much…her trips to warmer places she would bring her girls so they could experience different cultures and experiences. She was hard working and one of the strongest woman I have every hard the privilege of knowing. Her smile and personality was contagious and she warmed the hearts of anyone that can in contact with her. With her mom now, she will continue to be our angel and be watching over all those she loved and who loved her…which were many. My deepest condolences to her dad and brother along with her family and the many, many friends she made over her 57 years here on this earth. Laura, you will always hold a special place in my heart and I will cherish the time we spent together. Until we meet again my friend, watch over us all and shine bright! Love you always and forever my dear friend.

My deepest condolences to Laura’s family. Laura was a very special person. I only knew her through work at Bell, but having worked on the same floor for many years, I considered her a good friend and we talked often. She always had a smile and her outlook always brought a little bit of happiness to you no matter what kind of day you were having. She will be missed by many, and everyone that knew her will no doubt have many fond memories of their interactions with her. It is so sad to see another wonderful person taken far too soon. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Rest in Peace friend.

Émilie, Maxine and Sophie, and Laura’s family, our sincere condolences. We are so sorry to hear of her passing.
RIP Laura!

Laura would be loving a hot day like to day. Driving with her Jeep top down the wind blowing through her hair and waving at other Jeeps. We did that more than once. The tunes on full and singing a long. I will miss her so much. Words can not come close to how I feel and appreciate our friendship and the bond we have. I have lost my dancing buddy and also my best friend. Love you girl.

So very sad to hear of Laura’s passing. I remember her from school days in Salmon Beach and later years travelling by Bus to BHS. Her smile and bubbly personality are what I remember most of her. May you find comfort in your memories .. Our deepest condolences ❤

So sad of such a loss of a strong wonderful person that Laura was. We grew up together down shore until Laura moved to town. We still remained friends and it was Laura that lent me her prom dress for my prom ❤️. We stayed in touch on FB and last summer got together for a nice lunch. I had recently had Thyroid cancer and she was such an inspiration. She was so strong and determined to fight her cancer. I will miss her dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with her 3 beautiful girls which she cherished and was so proud of, her dad and her brother Steven. Keep watch over us our sweet angel until we meet again. Love ya my friend ❤️😘

I just recently learned of Laura’s passing. This is so sad. I worked with Laura at Lady Footlocker in the early 90’s. She was a mentor to me and beautiful human overall. Her infectious and jovial personality was felt by all. She had such empathy and care. I have very fond memories of Laura, that I will cherish always. My sincere condolences to her family and her daughters.
