In Memory of David James Kelso
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dave, with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his cherished wife of 55 years and best friend, Myrna (Johnston). Proud and devoted father of Shawn (Liz), Kimberly (Geoff, daughter McKenna), Jim (Jessica). A much loved and cherished grandfather, to Emily (Alex), Britney (Brad), Abaigh, Arabella, Kolton, and Kane.
He was the beloved son of the late James and Reta (Parke), loving brother to Heather Robinson (Jim), and Wendy Farant (Dan). Special brother-in-law to Norma Johnston, and Barrie Johnston (Betty). Dave will also be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends.
Dave joined the British American Banknote after graduating from Ottawa Tech. He became a steel plate printer at the banknote after his apprenticeship and was known for his reliability, and dedication to his craft.
As a loyal friend, and devoted family man he was known as a man you could always count on. He brought integrity and hard work to everything he did, earning the respect of everyone who knew him. A well respected hockey and softball coach, he taught not only the rules of the game but also the values of teamwork, perseverance, and respect.
His home was always open, a welcoming place where friends and family gathered, finding warmth, laughter, and his steady presence. Attending sports events of his children and grandchildren was another of his passions. He was their biggest supporter, cheering them on and providing helpful advice along the way.
Visitation will be held on Thursday November 21st from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at Heritage Funeral Complex (1250 Trim Road, Orleans). A funeral service will take place on Saturday November 23rd at 12:30pm at Navan-Vars United Church (1129 Smith Road, Navan). The funeral service may be streamed virtually by following this link: https://www.facebook.com/share/199Kn2tNqz/
A private interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Dave’s memory to the Navan-Vars United Church or a charity of your choice.

I am sad to hear of your Dad and husband. and his sudden health crises. Your memories of this wonderful man will give you you courage and strength during these days. We never loose the people we love, they remain with us in everything we do and this gives us the power to carry on.
Kim, you talked about your Dad during your visit here in Calgary this summer and I was so pleased to meet him at Navan Fair.
It is very unfair but one can be thankful of all the years and times you have had.
We always want more but what a joy, Kim, that you have so many wonderful memories. Even is your Dad dented your new vehicle!
