In Memory of Katie Heikkila
“In Loving Memory of a Generous, Passionate, and Beautiful Soul
It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Katie, a remarkable woman who graced this world with her generosity, passion, creativity, resourcefulness, artistry, and breathtaking beauty. She left us on July 21 2023, leaving behind her devastated husband and daughter, Roman and Astrid, as well as a community of friends and family mourning the loss of an extraordinary individual.
Born in 1988, Katie lived a life that was a symphony of colours, sounds, and emotions. She infused every moment with her vivacious spirit and genuine love for all those around her. From a young age, it was evident that she possessed a boundless creative energy that she channeled into various artistic pursuits (which may or may not have painted her into a corner a time or two). She traversed the vast landscapes of every province and territory in Canada, as well as many states in the US, China, England and France, to name a few. Through her journeys, she discovered the beauty of different cultures, the richness of diversity, and the wonders of the world.
Katie had an innate talent for turning the ordinary into something extraordinary. Her resourcefulness knew no bounds, she had a way of finding beauty in the simplest of things, and curating the most interesting pieces. Whether it was a boring cupboard, an interesting perspective, or the weirdest song you ever heard, that all of a sudden is breathtaking and you want to listen to again. She would breathe life into them, leaving behind an indelible mark of her unique artistic vision, and overall brilliance.
Her passions extended far beyond her artistic endeavors. She was equally enthusiastic about helping others and giving back to the community. Generosity flowed through her like a river, touching the lives of many through her acts of kindness and selflessness.
Above all, Katie was a divine wife and an adoring mother. Her love for her husband and their daughter was palpable, and she embraced motherhood with unparalleled dedication and warmth. She took delight in nurturing her daughter’s imagination, sharing her passion for creativity and instilling in her the value of compassion. She also had a wonderful sense of style and curated the most beautiful outfits for her daughter.
As we mourn her passing, we find solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Her infectious laughter, her genuine smile, and her ability to bring joy to any room will forever be etched in our hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate Katie’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on August 10th 2023, at Heritage Funeral Complex located at 1250 Trim Rd, Orléans, ON, where we will gather to honour her extraordinary legacy. Condolences will be received as of 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local charity or food bank.
Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the memories we hold dear. Let us find comfort in knowing that she has left the world a more beautiful place through her art, her generosity, and the love she bestowed upon her family and friends.
Rest in peace, our beloved Katie. Your spirit will forever dance among the stars, and your love will guide us through the darkest of nights.”

Katie was a wonderful person. Her smile would make my day better. I am a customer at the Shoppers Drug Mart that Katie worked.
She would always take time to talk to me and I would ask about her daughter Astrid. She was always happy and enjoyed talking to anyone
and offering help if needed. A beautiful soul taken way too soon.
My condolences to Roman and Astrid.
Rest in peace.
My wife and I moved next door to Katie ..Roman and Astrid Sept 1,2020 and were welcomed with open arms. Although we only knew Katie for a couple of years she left a lasting impression with us. What a wonderful woman she was. We remember when they put their house up for sale to move elswhere and Katie was concerned about pricing their house too high. She was concerned a needy young family could not afford to buy it. That was the Katie we got to know. Always concerned about everyone else. We will miss her dearly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Roman and Astrid.
Katie was a kind and wonderful soul. She would always lift our spirits whenever one of us would stop to chat during our daily walks. What a special and creative woman she was.
Roman, cherish your many wonderful memories of Katie. She will live forever in your and Astrid’s hearts.
I am saddened to hear of her passing .. I met her at Shoppers at Alta Vista plaza. She always greeted me with a smile and a hello. She was very friendly and outgoing.
I will her beautiful smile and personality ,when I go to Shoppers.
Rest In Peace dear Katy.
Sorry for your loss Roman and Astrid. I will keep you both in my prayers, and know that Katie still lives in the hearts of those that knew her.
