In Memory of Isobel Hodges

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Isobel Hodges (nee Cummings). She died peacefully at the Garry J. Armstrong LTC home on Thursday, August 20th, 2020 in her 88th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Wesley “Wes” Hodges and she was the dear mother to Wendy (Bert Molenaar), Gail and Garnet (Tracey); loving grandmother to Jordan (Amanda), Lydia (James), Rhea (Alex), Wesley (Amy), Liam (Jessica), Kiran, Rianna (Carlos) and cherished great-grandmother of David. She will be sadly missed by her brother George “Buddy”, as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. Predeceased by her parents George and Hazel Cummings, her brother Bruce (Donna) and her sister-in-law Lorna.

Isobel was very devoted to her faith and family. She was the church secretary for the St. Andrews United Church, Cumberland, for many years until she retired. She volunteered for many community groups and activities including the Women’s Institute, St. Andrew’s United Church Women, Navan Fair and the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum to mention a few. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. Her special birthday cakes were a big treat and surprise to all. She also loved to crochet and would make Christmas tree ornaments for family and friends every year. She was also known for the many afghans that she would knit and crochet.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Dale’s Cemetery, Cumberland on Wednesday, August 26th, 2020 at 11 a.m. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the 7th floor of the Garry J. Armstrong LTC for the compassionate care that they provided to our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church, Cumberland would be appreciated.
