In Memory of Isabella “nee Cole” Mise

With a lifetime of wonderful stories and special memories to comfort us, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful and unexpected passing of our cherished mother Isabella (Isa) on Friday, April 28, 2017. Born in Dumbarton, Scotland on May 24, 1921, she set sail for Canada in 1951 as a beautiful and courageous young immigrant leaving her parents and many siblings behind. Shortly after arriving, she met the love of her life, a young, handsome and hard-working refugee, Ivan (Johnny) who had recently landed in Canada from the former Yugoslavia, whom she married in December 1952 and they remained inseparable until Johnny’s passing from cancer in December 2007. Isa was a devoted and proud Mom to her five boys; Brian, Ian (Rosalie), David (who passed away in August 2016), Les (Rosa) and Rob. She was the treasured Grandma to Laura, Andrew, Emily, Joel, Isabella, John, Jessica and Matthew. Isa will be greatly missed by her only surviving brother John (Ruth), many nieces and nephews, plus close friends Robert and Nan McGarrie. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters; Bessie, Annie, Jim, Bobby, Jean and Peggy. Isa lived an exceptional life, with her loving husband, five sons and grandchildren always at the forefront. She was known for her extreme generosity, great sense of humour, strong compassion for people in need, honest opinion, sharp mind, unwavering faith in God and steadfast backing of her beloved Ottawa Sens. Our heartfelt thanks to the superb support provided by the Ottawa General Hospital over the past few days, particularly nurse Bonita, who cared dearly and compassionately for Mom during her final struggles. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd. (corner of Taylor Creek Dr.), Orléans, on Monday, May 1st from 3pm to 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 2nd at 11:30am at Divine Infant Parish, 6658 Bilberry Drive, Orleans. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Isabella’s name to the Shepherds of Good Hope (www.shepherdsofgoodhope.com) Memories or condolences may be shared at www.heritagefh.ca
