In Memory of Frank W. Smith
Frank W. Smith passed away peacefully March 11, 2023 , age 105, after enjoying a wonderful life. Born in 1918, Frank was a Montreal resident for over a 100 years.
Born just as WWI was concluding, Frank’s life spanned the Spanish Flu pandemic, the Great Depression, WWII, the computer revolution, and the Covid pandemic.
Frank was a proud Canadian and a WWII veteran. His service in the Canadian Army was followed by a career at Canadian National Railways in Montreal. He was an honest Christian and took on the responsibility of Clerk of Session at Montreal West Presbyterian church for many years, earning the honour of Elder-emeritus.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Dr. Allana Reid Smith, his brothers Ernest and Anthony and his sister Vera. He was a loving and generous family man; father, to Caroline (Gregory Koculym) and Allan (Karen). Grandfather to Alex Koculym (Marta), Allana Robinson (Scott), Katie Forbes (Tyson), Larissa McLay (Jason), Bruce Smith (Sarah) and Robert Koculym. Great Grandfather to Logan, Owen, Reid, Maria, Elgin, Sam and Calder.
Frank lived in NDG for 50 years from which he engaged in his favourite hobby, walking, which he did all over the city for decades, right up to his 100th birthday.
Frank lived his last few years at Perley Health, Ottawa, where he received great care, respect and friendship from wonderful staff members and fellow residents.
A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1220 Old Tenth Line Road, Orleans, ON on Saturday March 25, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Frank to the Perley Health Foundation or to Montreal West Presbyterian Church.
