In Memory of Elizabeth Loretta MacPherson, RN
Elizabeth “Betty” MacPherson passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11th, 2022 in Ottawa, Ontario. She was born on October 2nd, 1937 to the late Earl and Jessie Mosher in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Norman MacPherson; her three sons Steven (Wendy), Bert (Joanna), and Dale (Yajie); and her seven grandchildren Torrey (Gloria), Damon (Kseniia), Sarah, Ali, Maya, Sherry, and Michael.
With an early career as a Registered Nurse, Betty always extended love, compassion, and friendship to those fortunate enough to have crossed her path. Retiring early to raise her family, she returned later in life to care for others in need as a hospice volunteer. Her kindness left an indelible mark on all who she touched.
As the matriarch of the family, she maintained a loving home over the years while her husband pursued a rewarding forty-year career with the Royal Canadian Air Force and her three sons grew and matured under her ever watchful eye. She imparted an essence of life that continues to guide us today.
Betty nurtured many close friends over the years. Those who brought her the most happiness included Joyce, Donna Lee, Lorna, May, Shirley, Peggy, Carol, Faye, Liz, and the many new friends made at the Waterford over the last few years. As they will miss her, Betty will equally miss them and they will forever be in her heart.
Betty will be sadly missed, but for those of us who cared for her the most know, she lived a beautiful, adventurous, and ultimately fulfilling life.
The family would like to extend a deep appreciation to the staff of the Queensway Carleton Hospital who ensured Betty was comfortable and well cared for over the last few weeks and the nurses and personal support workers at the Waterford.
Miss you mum. You will always be the central pillar to our family and your unconditional love and support over all these years will never be forgotten. Love Dale & Yajie

Grammy Betty,
my world is a lot dimmer without you.
My heart hurts,
but I am at peace with the fact that you’re now in your paradise, running through fields of flowers and sunshine.
I will forever treasure our time together.
Until we meet again, love you forever and always.
