In Memory of Elaine Dorothy York

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Elaine.  Predeceased by her parents Phyllis and Ken York, and her sister Margaret Brown (Brian).

Siblings Stephen (Kathy), Paul (Micheline) and Patrick (Stephanie).  Very much adored by her nieces and nephews: Michael (Jillian), Joey, Brian, Meagan (Stephane), Kayleigh, Taylor (Angie), Brianna, Cameron and Aidan.  Great Aunt to Abby, Cullen, Emma, Addie, Porter, and Maya.

Elaine’s life was enriched by the 45 years of support she received from Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OCAPDD) who provided employment, along with much appreciated everyday living advice.  Over the last 11 years, Elaine worked for Canada Border Services, which she loved and where she made many lasting friendships.

Elaine was dedicated, loyal and anyone who knew her, loved her.  She had a special way of connecting people, through her stories, kind heart, and genuine compassion.  Words can not express how deeply she will be missed, especially by her furry canine friend, Milo.

Elaine’s funeral mass will be held at 11 AM, on 29 August 2024 at her long-time parish, Divine Infant Catholic Church, 6658 Bilberry Drive, Orleans ON, K1C 2S9.  A reception will follow in the church hall.

For those wishing a donation to OCAPDD would be appreciated.  OCAPDD, 229 Colonnade Road S, Nepean, ON, K2E 7K3 (website: www.ocapdd.on.ca).

Condolences

Elaine often came to our family functions and considered herself an extra sister. She was never shy around us, and joined right in. She loved social occasions, good wine, and being included. I remember laughing with her over fashion trends, her hospitality in hosting me at her house for a week while visiting my twin, Susan, in Ottawa, and the sweet person she truly was. 💕💖💕

My deepest sympathies to Elaine’s family, friends and neighbours and milo! I was so saddened like many to hear that Elaine had passed suddenly and that I would never talk or see her again. I loved Elaine and I will miss her terribly, she was the sweetest friend and neighbour to me and my daughter still to this day. Rest in peace sweetie!

Deepest condolences to all that knew her, and especially to her family. I’m not sure if I could ever truly express what an amazing person she was, and how she impacted those around her. She was the best colleague, a dear friend, and I will miss her dearly. Rest in peace central dispatch…and thank you for keeping me inline.

My dearest dearest friend Elaine, your good humor, daily good mornings, your cheery smiles, your love of life are already missed by many of us. Loved meeting you at work, or at the bus stops, spending time together at lunch, on our occational weekends. Even though since my retired we didn’t see each other daily, we still spoke daily. I close my eyes and still see and hear that happy giggle of yours. I cherish the thought that you meet a special someone up there and still get to enjoy a nice glass of your favorite red wine. Cheers my darling. It was truly an honor to have you in my life. ❤️

Elaine’s beautiful smile, shining blue eyes and her kind ways will remain in hearts for as long as we live. We miss you Elaine, but we also know, you are in the arms of the dear Lord and your parents.

Until we meet again, Al and Christine

My sweet Elaine, it’s been a pleasure knowing you and working with you. Heaven has a new angel 🕊 I’m already missing your Friday morning messages. Condolences to the familly.

I woke up this morning thinking how much I missed Elaine’s daily texts. She was always so sweet and enjoyed hearing about my grandkids and seeing their pictures. At work, Elaine was always smiling and very involved in all of our social events. She was the top seller at our bake sales – because who could say no to Elaine. Some of my favourite memories of Elaine are how she dressed up for each holiday and always won best costume. She really enjoyed life and easily made friends. I will not forget her. Rest in Peace dear Elaine.
