In Memory of David Moores
It is with broken hearts that we announce that David Moores passed away on February 19th, 2023, at the age of 61 surrounded by his loving wife and daughter after the most courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was a proud Newfoundlander that was also known as Dave, babe, dad, daddy, Poppy, Sup, Super, Super Dave and wool.
Dave was blessed with a loving family and married his best friend with whom he raised his three amazing children. He taught them unconditional love while being his patient, strong, kind, hilarious, hard-working self. His pride and joy was having the privilege of being a Poppy to his five (almost 6) gorgeous grandbabies. He was someone who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as making bread, Ches’s fish n’ chips, turkey rolls, warm weather, spending time with his family in his garage, working with his hands, rocking out to any music, and travelling with the love of his life. He did have a profound love for riding his motorcycle and more recently his beloved Harley. He was able to complete his bucket list during the summer of 2022, when he rode his motorcycle to NFLD with Jo at his side for the most unbelievable trip. His best quality was how he took care of those he loved like making sure his Jo had her coffee holder on the motorcycle, calling his mom daily, making cheese toast for his youngest daughter or driving his grandkids to their sports on his bike. He lived a full life with plenty of fun which he loved talking about for hours such as the parties with his boys in St-John’s, the beach trips with his wife, the numerous concerts which ensured enough laughs to last a lifetime.
He is survived by his precious wife, Johanne and children, Natalie (Seb), Daniel and Sarah (Jaydon) as well as his grandchildren: Matteo, Simon, Audrey, Ilai and Anthony, his adored mother, Jean (Ledrew), his brothers and sisters: Cynthia (Laus), Don (Pete), Nancy (Darryl) and Wayne (Krista), his nieces and nephews: Tim, Joey, Sophia, Ben and Grace and great nephew and niece. He will also be dearly missed by his wife’s extended family, his beloved friends, and colleagues. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Moores.
A Celebration of life will be held on February 25th, 2023, from 10:00am.to 12pm., at Heritage Funeral Complex at 1250 Trim Rd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Myeloma Canada: 1255 TransCanada, Suite 160, Dorval, QC., H9P 1V4.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the myeloma team at the Ottawa General Hospital, especially Dr. Sparu and Christine, the staff on the medical day unit, the nurses and doctors on 6 East and ICU and the palliative care team for the most compassionate care.
Dave, thank you for all that you gave, you will be missed beyond measures and etched in our hearts forever. Ride on into the eternal sunset and rest in peace.
