In Memory of Carl Thomas Bertrand

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Thomas Bertrand, 79, on December 23, 2023. He passed away peacefully at the General Hospital in the company of family.  He was born in Sarsfield, ON, on March 2, 1944, to Rolland and Genevieve Bertrand (nee Nolan), both deceased.

Carl was the beloved husband of Aline Bertrand (nee Leduc) and the loving father of Marc (Kathy), Mike (Nat) and Renée (Ray).  He was the adoring grandfather (pâpâ) to Jessica R, Michael, Jessica B, Tory, Samantha, Ashley, and Danielle (ti-bout) and 4 great-grandchildren.

Carl will also be missed by his brothers and sisters; Marilyn (Lubos Mahovsky), Janet (John Paul), Claude (Lynne), Richard (Louise), Jack (Anne-Marie) and Guy (Sylvia) as well as many friends.

Carl was always a hard worker starting his first job as a bus driver at the age of 16.  He served in the Military for 25 years, then continued supporting the military as a contractor and ended his career as a commissionaire at the age of 65.

He loved to read everything especially Westerns. He had a remarkable memory and right up until he passed, he still had the ability to talk about anything and everything.  He also was a devoted sports watcher and spent many hours in front of the TV.  He will be remembered as a someone with an amazing sense of humor and always ready with his wise cracks.

Carl enjoyed his retirement years being active in Florida.  He was an avid pétanque player and loved to ride his bike in the park.   He was always ready to lend a hand to either pick up needed supplies, people from the airport or make coffee during the monthly breakfasts.  He will be greatly missed but thankfully he left us with may beautiful memories.
