In Memory of Arthur Louis Pelletier
Art passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 1, 2023, after a year long battle with cancer, at the age of 72. He was the only son of Muriel Paige (nee Maillet) and the late Arthur Pelletier Sr. He was the beloved husband of Christine Pelletier (nee Walker) and loving Dad to Mark (Marilyn) and Jennifer. He will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Art was born and raised in Ottawa and graduated from Carleton University with an honours degree in English.
Art’s working career took him through various paths in the IT sector. He retired from Export Development Canada in 2007, after 28 years of service. He then went on to live an active lifestyle where he enjoyed swimming, running, biking, and even earned a black belt in karate.
One of Art’s greatest passions in life was travel. He visited countless countries across 6 continents around the world. While every trip came with wonderful experiences, he often spoke with great pride about his time in Antarctica, East Africa, and the Galapagos. You could learn so much from listening to Art’s stories and viewing his hundreds of beautiful pictures.
Art enjoyed music and spent time learning to play guitar when he was younger. He enjoyed attending concerts over the years and sharing his passion for music with his children.
Art was always a wealth of knowledge. If you wanted to know something, Art usually had the answer, and if he didn’t, he would make sure to find it.
The family would like to say thank you to the Ottawa General Hospital for the wonderful care he received during this challenging time. As well as the various community organizations who helped support Art during his time at home.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Pelletier to the Canadian Cancer Society, World Vision Canada, Plan International Canada, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
