A LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Vincent Nugent

We are here to celebrate the life of Vincent Nugent and share some wonderful memories of him.  During this time of pain, it has been difficult for his family and loved ones to collectively speak, so I hope today will be an opportunity for us to support one another.  I want to thank you all for joining us today and showing so much love and support to our family. It is unfortunate and sad that we are brought together under these circumstances, but this also shows the love that we have one for another.  So let us take some time to reflect, remember and celebrate the life of a father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin and dear friend.

Vincent Nugent was born March 2, 1950 in Westmoreland, Jamaica to Howard and Violet Nugent.  As a child Vincent enjoyed playing with his 17 siblings.  Following the birth of his 3 children Vincent knew he needed a change in order to provide more for his family.  With this in mind Vincent migrated to Canada and made his new home in Ottawa, where he resided for over 20 years.

In Ottawa Vincent started cultivating new love for the things he enjoyed in life. Vincent loved the fellowship and friendships he found within the Church. As a longtime member of the Ottawa East SDA Church, Vincent served the Lord in many different departments.  Vincent enjoyed singing with the men’s choral and often shared his unique and memorable singing voice with family, friends and even strangers.   You could always count on Vincent to show up to church socials with his famous sweet potato pudding and Easter bun in season.  And if you are ever looking for Vincent and he is nowhere to be found, chances are you have forgotten to check the domino table.

As Vincent got older his heart longed to return to his country of birth. And this he did. Upon retiring Vincent moved back to Jamaica and married Claudette Denison. Vincent enjoyed his return to Jamaica which was cut short due to illness.  Having to return to Canada for medical care was a very difficult decision for him to make.  But his battle with kidney disease and diabetes left him no choice.  On May 15, 2022 Vincent passed away from complications of his illnesses.

He leaves behind his wife Claudette, three children, Miguel, Davol and Vinora, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.  May his soul rest in peace.

Relatives and friends will be received at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd., Orleans, on Sunday, June 12th, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Funeral Ceremony will follow in the Heritage Chapel at 12 p.m.
