Condoléances

I met Rick in about 1997 through our common hobby of Amateur Radio. He was always very helpful with the various radio clubs he belonged to over the years, the man knew his stuff.

My deepest condolences to his friends and family.

Our deepest condolences, Steve, Kelly, Shelby and Morgan, on the passing of your dad. Thinking of you during this difficult time.

I have known Rick since we were both 19:years old. In 2013 we began what became a close relationship. We took wonderful trips together and visited with each other’s families. and enjoyed visiting each other’s homes. Despite the geographical distance between us we kept in touch daily. Rick loved music and often came to my choir concerts.
Rick was a caring and generous person. We all enjoyed his sense of humour and his eagerness to help others. He was a wonderful Grandpa to Shelby and Morgan.. I will cherish my memories of this wonderful man and will miss him dearly.

Steve & Kelly. I am so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed visiting with Rick during his trips to Sarnia & appreciated his hospitality in Ottawa. Both Rick & Ken were great at conversation so I am sure they are having quite a gab together. He will be missed.

Condolences to the family, met Rick through radio, he fixed a radio fir means built me an antenna that was given to me when I graduated from his radio coarse! I’m a member of Karc radio club which he was the president of, I will dearly miss him

Rick was a good friend that I could talk with about the old country. I was born in Poland and it gave me a chance to speak with Rick a little Ukrainian/Russian/Polish. Good times.
I live on the same street as Rick and we helped each other with various projects. We had a lot of fun wiring the electrical circuits in his basement. He was very happy when the inspector passed it with flying colours. We celebrated with some good red wine.
Rick was good enough to organize and run a ham radio course so many of us could become certified Amateur Ham Radio Operators. The seven of us had a lot of fun and all passed the exam. He didn’t even charge us for the course. He had a big heart and shared his knowledge and experience with everyone. Attached picture of graduating class.
Shelby and Morgan were his favourite topic. We would always get the latest news and the fun he had with them. They were the light of his life storing up great memories.
He was a very good friend that I miss already.
My deepest condolences to the family. May the good Lord bring you comfort during this very difficult time.

I as saddened to hear of Rick’s passing. He was always ready to work on a project with the amateur radio community. I didn’t see him much since he moved to Kemptville. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

I knew Rick through Amateur Radio. Always ready to help, he came to my place to install my Broadband system. We often talked on the radio while he travelled to Cumberland testing his Hotspot relay. Sad news indeed. Condolences to family and friends.

I will miss seeing Rick at family gatherings. Such a kind, good natured man, a supportive father and doting grandpa. Love to Steve, David, Kelly and all those who were close to Rick.

I am so saddened to hear of Rick’s passing. We had many enjoyable chats and I will miss his cheerful wit, and his advice and guidance when I needed it. Always a positive influence on those around him and a true gentleman. My sympathies go out to family and friends. God speed my friend. de VE3KAE. Alan

I knew Rick well when we worked together more that 20 years ago on a radio system project for the RCMP. We also kept in touch over the years through amateur radio often working each other during the VHF contests. In more recent times, we met occasionally at the Newport Restaurant for the monthly gatherings of the amateur radio QRP Group.

Rick will be especially missed his personal friendship as well as his service and leadership to the Ottawa area amateur radio community.

To his entire family, my sincere condolences.

I first met Rick walking my dog through the neighborhood. I saw the call sign listed on his license plate. I stopped and had a chat.

Rick had a passion for the hobby and anything tech related. This common interest led to a great friendship.
Just about every day, as I walked the dog, we would chat on the radio. I would get text messages if I was running late of « Woof ».
Time for the « Rock around the block » as he put it. (our neighbor hood is called Stonewalk)

He had an insatiable appetite for knowledge, a wealth of it to share, a sharp wit and a masterful skill with puns.
He had a strong sense of Family, as I would get updates on his sons, Ruth and his granddaughters. It would tickle him that he could step out of his house and the bus driver would stop so he could see his granddaughter.

He will be missed.

Don’t worry Rick, I will always remember as you asked « No Grass means… No Mow Birds »

Steve and Kelly, my sincere condolences. It’s really tough to losing a dad. Rick and I hung out on Telegram chat most of the time and the occasional real ham radio chat. We like to solve world issues and I would queue him up to get his next tv series to watch, especially when we were in lock down. Rick was a very generous person and a good friend and I had come to know him through amateur radio. Anyway Rick will be missed by all. Life is too short!

Dear Steve we are sorry to hear of your father »s passing. Sincere condolences to you and your family.
Love always, Mickey, Larry and Alyssa.

I just read July 9th of the loss of my old friend Rick. I still have my last email from him of Nov 17th 2021. Rick and I met at Bell mid 60s in Toronto and were close buddies for a bunch of years. He helped me out during a Dark Period of my life and we worked together till mid 70’s when I moved to Ottawa. He later did the same but we had drifted apart but stayed in touch. I remember he and Eva came to Penetanguishene around 85 and we went sailing. My wife Nancy and I later visited them in Cumberland around 2005 or so and that was the last time I saw him in person. That being said, we were in touch by phone or email and shared many Ham Radio stories and our early Bell experiences. The World is a lesser place with his loss and I am saddened by his demise. 73 and 88 Rick! VE3EQP …..>
