A LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Mark Ernest Scott

Our family announces with great sorrow the sudden passing of Mark Scott. Mark passed away due to unexpected heart issues on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the age of 42 years. Loving husband of Renée (née Aspirot) and adoring father of Luc, Mathieu, and Benoit. Cherished son of Herbert and Marie Scott; treasured brother of Shane and Gillian (Justin); uncle of Kaliah and Darius; brother-in-law of Michel (Anne); and son-in-law of Gilles and Lorraine Aspirot.

Mark grew up in Glovertown, NL where he was known as being a hard worker, a nature lover, and a talented guitar player. His passions for nature and wildlife took him to the University of Guelph where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. He also obtained a Fish and Wildlife Technician & Technologist Diploma. While his education took him many places in Ontario, it was in Ottawa where he finally settled and worked with the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority as a biologist then with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in biology and in environmental analysis.  Mark took pride in his work and was an easy going, detail-oriented, and valued team member.

Mark was a devoted husband. While his talents on the guitar helped to catch the eye of the love of his life, Renée, it was his joy for life, his sense of humour and his kindness and love that made them soulmates. Mark was dedicated to the future they were building together and excited for the many adventures they would share.

Mark was an incredible dad. He relished the daily routine, countless snuggles, and showing his children the wonders of the world. He loved them openly with boundless hugs and kisses and expressed his feelings through his silliness, playfulness, and patience. He believed that through play and exploration, confidence and self esteem can flourish. His ‘kid at heart’ personality shone brightly in these precious moments with his boys.

Mark was very funny. His smart and witty sense of humour attracted people to him and he was able to make those around him laugh. He was rarely without a smile on his face and you could see the sparkle in his eye as he thought up a witty comeback.

For all of those close to him – family, friends, and coworkers – his passing creates an immense void. The memories we shared with him will be in our hearts forever. He will never be forgotten.

Family and friends may pay respect at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd., Orléans, on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. A Celebration of Mark’s Life will follow in the Heritage Chapel at 2:30 p.m. For those wishing, In Memoriam donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation (https://ottawacancer.thankyou4caring.org/donate/gift-in-memoriam) are appreciated.
