Dear Aunt Lillian

I fondly remember the fun we all had sharing our younger days with your mother and father at 12 Railway. You were always the life of the party. We so enjoyed your heartfelt joy in being able to share your life with so many others. May you rest in peace and be always remembered for being such a great wife, mother, sister and aunt to so many of us. Sincerest condolences to Uncle Dan and cousin Louise.

Dearest Louise and Uncle Dan, I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of Aunt Lillian. My deepest condolences. Aunt Lil had a very special place in my heart as I have many fond childhood memories of gatherings at 12 Railway, where often adults (Uncle and Aunts, grandparents, etc) were gathered at the big table for a game of cards. If there was fun to be had, of course Aunt Lil would be there with Uncle Dan. I remember Aunt Lil smiling ear to ear, trying on her new water skis in the very kitchen! She loved to make people laugh and totally enjoyed the company of people. I remember her taking me for a ride down Railway in her new black VW Beetle as she showed me how proud she was to be shifting the gears, looking over at me beaming with her big smile. So many memories, I could go on and on. Throughout, the many years, we would occasionally speak on the phone, she would often talk about Louise who she adored, and of course, Uncle Dan . One of her classic lines with me on the phone was « when I see you, I’ll sit on you ». That was Aunt Lil! She was an extraordinary, vibrant woman, who lived life to the fullest, was loving, funny and touched many lives. I was saddened to hear of her passing, as in many ways she reminded of my own mom, her sister who shared many similar characteristics. Last time I saw Aunt Lil, I knew her health and memory were failing, I know she is now at peace, with other loved ones that have passed on. I can hear laughter coming from the heavens above. Must be a card game going on!

Uncle Dan and Louise, my sincere condolences. I have many great memories of aunt Lillian. She would babysit for my mother many times when we were young. She was always full of laugher and had many jokes to share. I also remember going to visit our grandmother on Railway street and aunt Lillian had just purchased her first house not far from grandmother home, to look after her mother. I loved to go and visit her and uncle Dan on Railway street, a short walk from Spadina Ave. She’s actually the one that taught me how to make pig feet stew. In addition, she was the one that got me my first apartment. So many holidays and beach parties we shared with our family. Louise was the star of the Mulligan Roy family and I loved to hear Ma tante talk about all of Louise’s successes. The last time I saw the Mulligan sisters together, I had the pleasure of taking this photo.
