À LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE John Sandulescu

Iõn Stefan Sandulescu, passed away on April 26, 2020 at the age of 86. A champion kayaker from Romania, he gained acclaim when he defected into what was then West Germany. There he met his wife, Hildegard, and went on to coach Olympic hopefuls in Germany, Australia and Canada. After over 35 years living in the Mississauga area, they moved to Ottawa in 2011 to be closer to their 3 grandchildren. The sadness that is felt in his passing is mixed with the comfort of knowing he is with his wife, and family that have gone before him. A private service will be held to commemorate his life.
