À LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE Douglas Everett Ketcheson
December 16, 1944 – October 13, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas (Doug) Everett Ketcheson, who died peacefully on October 13, 2025, in Ottawa, with his beloved wife Louise Villeneuve at his side.
Born in Bancroft, Ontario, Doug was the son of the late Everett and Thelma Ketcheson. He grew up in Prince Edward County, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and small-town community values that would stay with him throughout his life. He later attended Sir George Williams University in Montreal, earning a degree in economics, followed up with a master’s from McMaster University in Hamilton, a foundation that led to a long and distinguished career in public service.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Doug led a rich personal life. His passions included cross-country skiing, sailing, collecting art, and traveling – pursuits that reflected his deep appreciation for nature, culture, and beauty in all its forms. He found joy on the water, tranquility on the trails, and inspiration in the art and places that captured his imagination.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Louise Villeneuve, and his sons Michael Ketcheson (Erika Ferrarin), Adam Ketcheson (Arissa Mehta), and Gino Bilodeau (Jophie Lacourse). He was a proud grandfather to Aisha and Luella Ketcheson, who brought him significant joy.
He is survived by his siblings Marjorie Farley (Late Bill Farley) and Lyle Ketcheson, and predeceased by his brother Bruce Ketcheson (Margaret Reid). Doug will also be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues who cherished his kindness, wisdom, and gentle humour.
A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Road, Ottawa, on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, from 2:00 – 5:00PM with remarks and stories about Doug’s life and relationships starting at 2:30PM. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and share stories of a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s memory may be made to the Canadian Wildlife Foundation (www.cwf-fcf.org).
Doug’s legacy of service, compassion, curiosity, and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.

My Deepest condolences to the Family and all of those who had the pleasure of knowing Doug.
